If that's the case, why do they have a mastodon and a saber-toothed tiger for two of their teammates. Last I checked, most people would not consider those to be members of the dinosaur class.
Is it a terminus thing, i.e. do the Japanese consider mastodon and saber-toothed tiger to the same class as dinosaurs?
Were there no other dinosaurs for the team to use? I agree tyrannosaurus, pterodactyl and triceratops are the upper echelon of well-known dinosaurs, but what about the stegosaurus? And I am sure you could have gotten a water-based dinosaur for good use as well.
So, what's the deal?

Pterodactyls aren't dinosaurs either. Dinosaurs walked on the land or if they were one of those flippy spot monkey cruiserweights, they glided short distances through the sky. Pterodactyls and other prerosaurs, along with the marine reptiles of the age aren't dinosaurs.
So....they had two dinosaurs.

Pterodactyls and other prerosaurs, along with the marine reptiles of the age aren't dinosaurs. So....they had two dinosaurs. They sometimes had a third one, Titanus, but it didn't show up all that often. |
