F***ing Hell. I don't even know what to say any more. Just f*** these guys. I can't believe there's even so many of them left when they're so eager to die for their "cause".

Some people ran into shopping malls to avoid the speeding truck and prolly escaped death by a mere second......they really ought to put up more concrete blocks.

Arsehole.
I have £50 on the next few days involving ISIS claiming the attack, evidence coming out that it has nothing to do with them, and noone paying attention to that last part, and the cycle continues.

You know, the Monster Raving Loony party here, it's joke defense proposal was to build a 1 foot high wall around the country, so any invaders would trip over.
A variation on this is now a legitimate anti terror tactic.
It's literally beyond parody now.

It's an effective tactic for terrorist attacks. Pedestrianising city centres and adding barriers and bollards is a possible option to deal with it, but then it makes it difficult for city centre stores to get restocked, and even those measures might not stop someone who is intent on causing death and injury.

It was a soda truck and it seems the driver forgot the keys in the ignition so it appears it was a spontaneous act by the terrorist and not planned in advance. 4 dead now There were some concrete lions he ran over but they were in no way strong enough against his speeding truck. It's possible it has nothing to do with ISIS , just a mental case.

As I said after the London attack, IS don't need to do much. They know that they can inspire nutters to carry out independent attacks. Al-Qaeda did something similar, but unlike IS, Al-Qaeda were not stupid enough to try and carve out a state out of existing countries. Al-Qaeda's approach was to remain invisible and carry out attacks to destablise regions, provoke responses, and generally keep their enemies off balance. The IRA had a similar problem back in the day, when some within their ranks tried to actually create patches of territory cordoned off in Northern Ireland as little enclaves.

A friend of mine on another site I go to witnessed the entire thing. He's fine now but needless to say he's pretty shaken up by it.

And closing off large areas completely would probably not make rescue services very pleased. Not to mention that causing inconvenience is usually a major secondary goal with terrorists. One of Al Qaeda's plots began with someone saying "I bet we can get everyone taking their shoes off", and another one was that guy who implanted plastic explosives and tried to detonate them with an injection which led to the full body scanners.
