My Boss Is a Horrible Liar

Seriously...three times this week she's pulled the "regulars called me on my phone and complained about this" on one of my managers.

What a crock.

That would involve actual interaction with our regulars. In charge for over a year and 95% of the customers couldn't pick her out of a one person lineup. Good on the manager in question for walking straight up to the snitch that really texted her and having him admit to it within seconds.

It used to be. I'll have been employed here 13 years in June. It's just embarrassing how it's been run the past year. We're down almost $100,000 in sales over the first 3 months this year...but hey...she does what's best for the restaurant. Like lie to her management staff, purposely not order items at months end to maximize her bonus and tell said managers that certain employees are bad eggs while she keeps the same employees as her personal snitches when she's not there. (Thanks to that person she called the host stand last night and made a hostess cry saying she was watching her at home on the camera...another lie.)

Best part is someone ratted me out for writing an anonymous e-mail to corporate trying to get her canned last year. I used another manager she got fired as a smokescreen. They still thought it was her a couple weeks ago. Either way, she purposely told one of the managers that she knew...one manager in particular that she knows I talk dirt about work with a lot. She is convinced she already told me...and she did...but neither of us have given it up yet. Gotta love hearing that you have a target on your back. Fun part is going to be I'm the last employee she wants to retaliate against.

If you stick around long enough, you'll simply incorporate the crazy lies into your daily routine and stop noticing them.

I thought backstage politics were bad! I don't get this sort of behaviour. Is it a "feel like a big shot" thing?

A boss should be batting for the team and developing their staff to the best they can be?!

I once had a boss that got caught stealing by someone. She then tried to blame it on me. Everyone stood up for me and said that I wouldn't do something like that. I think she could tell I was a pothead, so a few days later I was "randomly" selected for a drug test and fired. This despite having been employee of the month just the month before. Even the boss above her personally called me and said that she would hire me back if she was allowed to.

I've had a couple of incompetent bosses who took their personal failings out on employees, using workers are professional scapegoats / punching bags. I can't say that I fully regret leaving those jobs.

Had a similar situation. While waiting for a position at the morgue to open up I got a job at a Racetrac gas station.When I got hired on I let the boss know that I was only there until I got hired by the morgue. But I would give two weeks notice.

Took me a bit to catch onto it,but the boss was a mega racist.I had only been working there for 3 hours when she offered me a swing manager position. After a week she moved me to graveyard shifts 3 nights a week,which I liked. After my second graveyard shift I go home and get a call,saying my register came up 150 bucks short. So got told I could either pay the money or I was fired. I paid it. 3 weeks later she pulls me to the side says it was a paperwork mistake and gave me back 100 bucks.

Now working graveyards I was suppose to get off at 6am. But I couldn't shut down my register and start my paperwork until the main boss showed up. She never showed up earlier than 6:30am. And expected me to clock out at 6am and work off the clock until she got there and I did my paperwork. I let her know if I was doing work I would be on the clock and she might want to start showing up on time.

With it being graveyard shift and being right off a major highway lots of times people would leave their change. So most mornings I would be 2 to 4 bucks over.I mentioned this to the assistant manager and he said something about how according to the paperwork when I worked graveyards I was never over.

So after a few months I get a call from the morgue. Wanting me to start in 3 days. I told them I had told my current job I would give them 2 weeks notice. So the morgue was cool and agreed to work with me so I could do both jobs for 2 weeks. It was a Friday and I was off from work,heading to NOLA for a concert. Goto my work to get gas and cigs. I walk in and the boss asked if I was ready for my shift that evening. She had a bad habit of calling my house at 7am,right after I went to sleep,talking to me while I was half asleep. I do not remember her calling but supposedly I had agreed to come in and work that evening. "And if you don't come in you are fired" I get told. Having never been fired I went in and worked. But decided screw giving two weeks notice. I planned on quitting as soon as my shift was over. Got off at 11pm. The next day went in and told the assistant manager that I quit.

I go in on Monday to get my check. The manager loudly says "MAKE SURE HE PAYS FOR EVERYTHING HE GETS AND HE ISN"T ALLOWED BEHIND THE COUNTER!" I made a comment about how petty that was. And headed out. Came back in hours later to get a drink and the boss is gone. Seems corporate had been investigating her for months now. Seems not only was she mega racist,out of the 12 people working at this place there was only 4 white people. All of whom were managers. But she had been stealing money for over a year. That time she told me my register was short was a trick she had pulled a bunch. Get a new person hired on. Put them on graveyards,then she would take some money blame it on them and tell them to pay it back or get fired.
