The book is fantastic, probably my favourite Gaiman novel. Everything thus far makes it seem really faithful. They're not rushing through the plotline, they're giving it the time it deserves. And the casting seems pretty spot on too for almost every character (although Kristen Chenoweth does not fit how Easter was described in the book) so I'm really looking forward to this one.

Bro, brooooooooooo
This is my FAVORITE book of all time working with my FAVORITE showrunner of my FAVORITE show ever (Hannibal). My dream casting for Wednesday was Ian McShane. This thing is friggin' custom made for me. I am so excited.

American Gods is on my shortlist of books to read after I get my degree. Hoping that the show lives up to its expectations.

This looks really good and the casting seems on point. Hoping I can find a way to watch it here.

Hannibal was one of my favorite TV shows of the last few years and this looks like an even crazier version of that. Still haven't read the book but it's Bryan Fuller so I'm in.

That was one of the greatest things ever. I watched the season preview afterward like a kid in a candy store.

This show is still pretty good, for anyone who might have lost track of it over the past month.

I lost interest after Episode 2. Just couldn't get it.
I think because the main character was seeing these extraordinary events and things but not demanding an explanation for it or asking who any of the people were.
If I saw Lucy talking to me from a television, I wouldn't shrug it off. I'd demand an explanation and the lack of even the slightest explanation for what was going on killed my interest.

That is kind of a major theme of the show, though? Mr. Wednesday constantly asks Shadow Moon if he believes what he's seeing, which, even at the end of Season 1, still freaks Shadow out. He can't, nor does he want to, believe in all of the random, nonsensical, and impossible things to which he's been witness. The gods only have power when people believe in them and what they can do. On the level of faith, spirituality, belief, whatever, the show isn't scientific or rational, but that might be the wrong thing to expect from it? The best explanation I can think of is, the characters are gods and abstract concepts--they can do what they will when the story requires them to.

The book is one of my favorites, but boy I don't like this show. I enjoyed the first episode and stuck with the entire season, but I doubt I return for season 2. The guy who plays Shadow is just bad and Laura Moon (and the actress playing her) seemingly getting most of the screen time sucks. The acting as a whole has just seemed a little hokey. It's like most of the cast got together and said, "Bet I can overact more than you!"
I will say that, visually, it's nice. Also, Crispin Glover is in it so it gets +10 for that alone. Other than that, it just feels like a mess. This and the television adaption of 'Preacher' have disappointed the hell out of me.
