For me it was G1 Megatron. Ebay was a nightmare back then. The original was expensive and i was broke. It took me over 15 years to finally get one when they came out with Toys R Us reissues n the early 2000's. Had to sell it along with many other of my collection in the great purge of 2003 just a couple years after i bought it. Now of course I had Megatrons from other lines, but i wanted the Gun one. Fast forward a few years ago I bought the Masterpiece Megatron. A couple years later Ebay came through. I found the TRU Reissue Megatron for close to the orignal retail. Then two weeks from that i bought the G1 Megatron from the Dark Side of the Moon two-pack which is all flat grey instead of the chrome for a great price complete with all the accessories of the original. Then I got the 3rd Party Apollyon. I want the new Masterpiec Megatron but it cost a grip.

It's hard to say that there was a toy that i wanted that wasn't as involved as the ellusive Megs was in my hobby. Especially since so many definitive version of different characters have been made over the last few years.

For me as a kid the only ones I really wanted that I had no shot of giving (there were some I wanted never got, but I probably could of) were Fortress Maximus and the GI Joe Aircraft Carrier.

When I was little my friend who was older than me had the coolest Barbie beauty salon but I wasn't allowed to play with it because it was for "display". I never got one and my friend never allowed me to play with hers. It's cruel doing that to a child.

That GI Joe Aircraft carrier. Sure, it probably was more than a month's house payment and wasn't practical at all. But holy shit I wanted that thing. I remember my parents laughing like mad when I pointed to it in the wishbook. I think I ended up getting a Stinkor figure that Christmas.

My grandmother's method of buying us Christmas presents was to hand us a JCPenney wishbook and a marker, and have us circle what we wanted. We got literally everything we circled.

So thanks to a horribly spoiling grandma, I can't think of too many examples.


A power wheels car would be the only thing that comes to mind. We didn't have a big enough yard for one, and the sidewalks were VERY uneven around us so it just wasn't workable at all.

That toy was awesome... but it was bigger than a person.

My brother and I always put this on our Christmas lists but never got it. It wasn't that it was expensive or anything, my mum just thought the concept was disgusting and refused to buy it.

The E-Wing from the Star Wars Action Fleet line. The Toys R Us I was in had both the E-Wing and the TIE Defender toys and my mom said I could only get one. I got the TIE Defender. It was the first and last time I ever saw either toy in stores.

Not that I regret getting the Defender. It's an awesome ship and I'd make the same decision today. I just wish I could've gotten both.

I think I'm going to have to say the Ghostbusters Firehouse playset. My brother and I had all 4 of the original Ghostbuster figures and Ecto-1 but never got the Firehouse.
