Jinder's won/lost record this year wasn't stellar by any means but he was presented as a tough opponent on the rare times he made Raw. He gave Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, and Finn Balor some tough battles before eventually losing. What people are missing is that you're suppose to be pissed that Jinder is champion. He cheated to win the number 1 contender match and to win the title. No one chanted " You deserve it" like with other heels winning. He's not cool. Fan friendly. Or a smark fave. And that is why I like the move. It's ROH champion Xavier booking. Sami Zayn lost a lot of matches the past 2 years. Would people be calling him a jobber if he was thrusted into the title picture and won the belt? Nope. I seem to recall a number on people on this board calling Ambrose a jobber prior to him winning one match that thrust him into the WWE Championship picture a few years back. We call EVERYONE jobbers, though, unless they're always winning major feuds.

Jinder's title plates somehow have less personality than he does. Seriously, is that Papyrus? They couldn't put a mandella behind it to make it look a little nicer? Liven it up a bit that's plain. The belt makers thought that Jinder winning was just a prank so they didn't had anything prepared.

I'm sitting here wondering if they'd really let Balor face Lesnar, and realize in a post-Jinder world, anything is truly possible in the WWE. For better and for worse.

Well I haven't seen Backlash yet, but I did watch the celebration ceremony for Mahal on Smackdown. I'm real happy for Jinder Mahal and excited about the opportunity he's been given. The interviews I've heard from him recently make it seem like this is all very well deserved.
It's all made sweeter by the fact the belt was taken off Randy Orton right after he made some arrogant comments on twitter. While I'm sure that's unrelated, it was still very nice to see. Randy Orton just isn't as likeable to me as Jinder Mahal. So yay.
Of course the sceptic in me thinks the only reason WWE did this is to gain popularity in India and their billion+ potential customer base. I think that's all WWE really cares about. It's a good move, I must admit.

Any Punjabi speakers care to shed light on what he says when he switches the English off? Is it as I suspect a warmer more facey Jinder?

Lol at a couple of fans sat at his head height behind him during the celebration. An Indian guy and a white guy. They seemed to be friends but the white guy shaking his head like, "I can't believe you're cheering him", and the Indian guy gleefully clapping away.

I continue to be pleasantly surprised and cautiously optimistic by Jinder's push. Last night's segment was good and portrayed him as a legitimate star. I like his entrance and even his new titantron font. He's really taking the ball and running with it, and the crowd reaction isn't anywhere near as negative as I'd anticipated. I suppose the only thing that's left to see is how his ring-work holds up. But he really looks and is doing a great job carrying himself like a star.

My understanding is that they made everyone some generic logo like that and had plates made so they could do shock changes without tipping people off or having the generic wwe plate on there for a while.

You know what really bugs me about this whole thing? There's all this talk of WWE doing this for the Indian market, but here they are pushing him as evil non-American heel #8,627. Don't you think the Indian audience would enjoy an Indian babyface more than this nonsense that's basically portraying their culture as scummy?

They should have been bothered by how it seemed like every other phrase out of Bret's mouth was "DIRTY STINKING HYENAS!" back in '97.
