io9.gizmodo.com/some-maniacs-have-decided-to-remake-willy-wonka-and-the-1794471990So.. this is a thing. An animated remake of the classic Gene Wilder movie... but with Tom and Jerry just kinda there. Again this is not like Tom is Charlie and Jerry is an oompa-loompa... and they get into shenanigans no it's literally the Gene Wilder version of the movie with all the characters from that ... with Tom and Jerry pasted into it. Well there's previous. The original movie was just a rehash of The Rescuers.

What is even the point of these movies anymore? Tom and Jerry contribute nothing at all to the plot and their just standing there.
If they wanted to do a Chocolate Factory, use some HB characters that haven't been used in years in the characters roles. For example Boo Boo Bear could've easily been Charlie.

They did one with Wizard of Oz which is essentially shot-for-shot the 1939 movie with Tom and Jerry added. Though they give most of the screen time to Tuffy since he's the only one with a voice.

What's next? Tom and Jerry in Gone With the Wind? (That film would take way too long for a cartoon movie) or Tom and Jerry: Blade Runners? Or Tom and Jerry and Dirty Harry?

But it seems like some people are so offended. To put more context into it....or rather, to make myself seem like less of an a-hole...? 1) them talking in that '90s movie was horrifying, on so many levels. I've seen vlog reviews of it (the only way I have seen it) and the horror is real. 2) I sorta appreciate the variety of these DTV movies. I mean, I'll never watch the vast majority of them (see below) but it's nice the brands aren't dying off and they live on in a variety of ways (both old toons and newer stuff) 3) I've always ignored T&J. Just never got into it, When it was a kid, it came across like Looney Tunes' competition. And since I was very pro-Bugs & Co. hence no Tom or Jerry for me. I was a weird kid. Someday I'll dig into the old stuff.....maybe....

To be fair, I didn't sound happy. But there really is an enjoyability to weird stuff like this... in my case, adding to the history of these fun old franchises.
