I prefer fries. Of course, shoestring fries and steak fries and potato wedges are all going to be pretty different in their own right.
Tots are good if crispy on the outside, but if they are soggy, they can be pretty gross.

Probably worth noting that Tater Tots are nowhere near as universal as Fries. With that said, went for Fries with the caveat that proper chip shop chips are better than thin fries. What's the difference? I thought chips are the same thing as fries. Chips are generally thicker and with more actual potato than fries. I think where fries is a universal term, they refer to different cuts, but I'd say there's a definite distinction.  |

Yeah, this is probably what we'd typically call steak fries or close to it, rather than thin shoestring varieties like you'd get at McDonalds. |

I'm actually surprised fries are winning. Usually I'm the odd man out in the Fries vs Tater Tots war, a lone curl in a sea of short, tubby cylinders.

Tater tots, especially onion tots. I can get a meal with french fries and not finish the fries. If I get a meal with tater tot you can bet your ass I'm finishing every last one.
