It's awesome. One of the defining movies of the 80's.

Definitely an iconic film. Not one I have a whole lot of personal attachment to, but one which really had some style to it.
Also, yes, really homoerotic, but that's fine.

It's gung-ho 80s macho nonsense, but enjoyable if you don't take it too seriously. There's always been talk of a sequel, but it's never materialised. Unless you count the Cruise flick 'Days of Thunder', which is meant to be 'Top Gun on wheels'. I wouldn't know, as that's a film that I've never seen myself.

My friends and I all loved this movie as kids, and we'd quote it all the time for years afterward. I still find myself saying "Take the shot, kid," "Target rich environment," and "Woohoo! Jester's dead!" occasionally.

I've always wondered about the randomness of a pilot having a nickname of goose.

My favorite movie of all time. My parents were in the Navy when it came out and my dad flew on P-3's. I used to put on one of his old flight helmets and watch as a kid.
Anyway, I can quote the movie start to finish. It was a real treat in 2011 when it was rereleased in theaters in 3D. It made the aerial scenes incredibly better.
My username is actually an homage to Miramar, CA where Top Gun is, which is colloquially called Fightertown, USA
And who doesn't love the soundtrack???
