Here's an interesting piece of television history (complete with commercials!)

First revamped episode, as there was an even earlier version from 1956 - 1965. The Flintstones spoofed it once.
Great find though.

<Paul Heyman voice> The episode TOO EXTREME FOR BOB BARKER! Tonight, see the show the network doesn't want you to see!
/See cause they offered a fur as the first one-bid.

I love seeing stuff like this, especially since I grew up with the Price Is Right. It's fascinating to see the show where people aren't yelling out prices and are dressed pretty normally. Also cool seeing the games as they used to be, and the commercials, too.

LOL, Connie was the prototypical TPIR contestant, easily excitable and screechy loud!
I forgot they used to not have the Big Wheel, I guess they got that when they went to an hour. I guess they determined who would go onto the Showcase by how much they had won.

The first prize was a fur coat. Still find that hilarious in retrospect.

I guess they determined who would go onto the Showcase by how much they had won. Exactly. Same way the nighttime versions worked up till the Doug Davidson one. Funny you mention the debut of the Showcase Showdown. As it looked a little something like this: (The hour format was originally for their 3rd anniversary. It would become permanent soon after, then they got the Big Wheel we all know and love, sans bonus spin and green spaces as such)

They must've done some editing since I could've sworn there were a few different people in the bid section towards the end of the show.
It seems sort of cheap to just award the two top money winners with the showcase showdown, I'm glad they got the big wheel.
Gotta love those old 70's commercials though.

The first prize was a fur coat. Still find that hilarious in retrospect. IIRC, a fur was the first prize on Let's Make A Deal as well.

Also cool seeing the games as they used to be, and the commercials, too. This version is much better than another copy I've seen floating around online. Really enjoyable and the guy who won the showcase seemed more interested in the presenter than the prizes. Made me chuckle. I was born in '81. Spent most of my youth on the Price is Right during the summer time as it airs at 11am here, hasn't changed in YEARS.
