The Oscar winning director was suffering from cancer and died today at age 73.

He also directed MARRIED TO THE MOB, RACHEL GETS MARRIED, the MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE remake, RICKI AND THE FLASH, and (if you can believe it: his directoral debut back in 1974) CAGED HEAT, the famed "women's prison exploitation" movie.

And in a sorta eerie coincidence, what ended up being his final work - directing an episode of Fox TV's SHOTS FIRED miniseries - airs.........tonight.

Another couple favorites of his are Something Wild as well as Melvin and Howard.

Very talented director...had kind of a low key career by​ the mid 90's, but he still had many good movies.
