Seriously, it seems that the only shows they have are MLP:FIM (which they do give most of their focus to), Littlest Pet Shop, Chuck and Friends, and Rescue Bots, along with a bunch of edutatinment shows. Granted, My Little Pony is probably whats keeping this network alive, but it's a far cry from how innovative they were back in the hub days.

I'm kinda baffled by this too.
There was a time when this was a go-to channel for me, between reruns of GI Joe and Transfomers (which in fairness they still do, just VERY early in the morning) and Transformers: Prime and GI Joe: Renegades (vastly underrated series regardless of how you feel about the art style). I think they even had Batman: TAS for a bit.

Hasbro co-owns the network - when they had majority it was The Hub, before that it was Discovery Kids. So they're sharing costs, I would think, which probably helps.
When Hasbro ceded majority ownership it was announced that the network was going to be more girl-centric in its overall programming, but I don't know if that ever happened or if Hasbro just moved most of its boy-centric shows to other places.
Also - and I don't know if this has changed since Hasbro is in the mix - I recall reading that most toy makers refused to advertise on The Hub since it was run by a competitor. If Discovery Family fixed anything, perhaps that shot in the arm with advertising helped...?

Granted, the only show I watch is MLP:FIM, but most of the commercials i see are for food and other DF shows.
