...that's how I'm referring to quitting smoking because I'm a middle aged dad at heart. I promised my girlfriend a few months back that I'd quit because she was concerned about my health but for handful of reason/excuses, it's been delayed. Recently, I've been feeling worse and worse on a daily basis including minutes long coughing fits first thing in the morning and I've decided it's finally time to stop smoking.
This is a general thread for support for anyone on FAN who's struggling with kicking any sort of addiction. Let's do it together team!

Quitting smoking for the final time was hard for me. I bought those bulleyes mini cigars to help since they had smaller amount of nicotine and smoked less and less everyday. To the point I said I was ready to completely quit so the cravings were less intense. Like when you got to the point you made it I'm only going to smoke three a day Morning-Lunch-Evening, the cravings are still terrible but you're getting used to them

As someone who went from smoking 50/60 a day to quitting cold turkey, I can offer the following advice... Do you really want to quit? If so, you'll do it. I found small achievements was the best way to go about it. Like if you can go a day without a smoke, you can go two. If you can go two days, you can go four. If you can go four days, you can go a week and so on. Another thing I can recommend to anyone thinking of quitting smoking, is cinnamon. If you like it, then cinnamon gum is a great help. If you don't like gum, maybe try and get a cinnamon stick.

I wish my parents would quit. My mom tries, but my dad doesn't, which makes it impossible for her to quit.
They are both turning 57 this year and have smoked since high school. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll probably end up burying them sooner rather than later.
I want my son to know his grandparents. (and I'd also like to visit their house without having to wash the smoke smell out of everything)

I managed to stop for two and a half years with a vape, then had been seesawing in an and out of relapsing since my relationship ended in August. I've been back on the vape for a few weeks now, and my advice actually is to not make a thing of it.
Thinking about it, for me, is game over. I just happen to have not been smoking.
edit: Best of luck to you either way, it is NOT easy to do. Hope you make it.
edit 2: And if it helps, if you're quitting partially because of your girlfriend, stopping smoking will give you better cardio, stronger erections and more staying power.
