I put Fiona Apple's third CD in my computer not too long ago and it just did not know what to do with it. That makes me laugh. I was building up my CD collection when these were coming out, so a bunch of my Iron Maiden cds are enhanced. I should open them on the computer and see what they do. Enhanced CDs. Takes me back to demo discs, and those cds put out by some music or entertainment company, that had music videos and such. Can't remember what those were, though. I have a bunch of the Iron Maiden enhanced CDs, the music plays, but it didn't open the "enhanced" features. My last computer would do it, but not the one I have now.

The only one I remember is my copy of Poodle Hat had Weird Al doing commentary over a bunch of his old home movies which he put that video up on his YouTube channel so there's no reason to even try that anymore if I wanted to watch it again. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zytJs7tvbEwOn the same note, Al's 1996 documentary "There's No Going Home" has the first 14 minutes of it on the Running With Scissors cd (which sadly, is the only home media release of that special, and its not even complete).

A lot of that crap didn't even work back in the day. For example, I bought Aerosmith's Nine Lives on the very day that album came out, and the 'Enhanced CD' multimedia component never worked on a single computer I ever tried it on. The only time I can remember 'Enhanced CD' content actually working was with Limp Bizkit's Significant Other CD, and that was around the time when CDs were on the verge of becoming irrelevant. By the way, the same PCs that could play Limp Bizkit's 'Enhanced CD' content could not play Aerosmith's. I had Nine Lives too. I used the PC stuff but can't for the life of me remember what it was. So you probably didn't miss much. I even forgot it was a thing until just now.

I vaguely remember it was some sorta like carnival themed thing. I think each song had like a theme, like the booklet but animated. Maybe the lyrics and a few sound clips. I haven't plugged it a computer since 97ish. My laptop doesn't even have a CD drive anymore.

Deftones "White Pony" had a Deftones Pac-Man game. Most of the other ones I remember having just had a music video or two.

From what I remember reading about Nine Lives, either in magazines or on the internet, the album supposedly allowed PC users to play along with the songs. Ideally, a peripheral called the v-pick (which came with a similarly themed PC game called Quest for Fame) would be used, but supposedly even a pencil could be used to simulate a guitar being stroked. Don't ask me how that was possible.

Nine Lives had a game where you could play along with a few songs using your keyboard. You'd just tap keys along to the music. Pretty fun from what I remember. That's a very underrated album in my opinion.
