Narrater, V.O. Can be for anything really.. movies, audiobooks, documentaries, ... well anything except sports, even if sports calling is sort of a narration.. let's keep that to a separate thread if there is one Thought about making a poll, but I know I would of missed someone important. So just made a thread for you to name your favourites. Here are mine: David Attenborough: hosted and narrated many BBC and non BBC nature docos over the years. Been doing it since the fifties. He has a really kind sounding voice, it's like listening to an old family member tell stories. Think it's a crime that when sometimes his documentaries go to America they replace his narration. The worst being when they used Oprah on LIFE. Keith David: think he is great when he does the Ken Burns stuff. Sort of funny with his acting background appearing in John Carpenter movies and Requiem for a Dream. But great voice. I rate him above Morgan Freeman who has also done some Ken Burns. Stephen Fry: another of those reassuring voices. Does many audiobooks including Harry Potter, Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, Sherlock Holmes... among the many that he has done.

Attenborough, Stephen Fry and Morgan Freeman
They have that sort of calm, comforting, relaxing voice about them.

Alec Baldwin was perfect for The Royal TenenbaumsHe was. And at that point, he had fallen off the radar in Hollywood. I wonder how on earth Wes Anderson thought of using him.

Rod Serling. I've got a documentary about "the unknown" and he's great. Also, his pronunciation of "Lake Titicaca" is unintentionally funny.

Nostalgia-wise? William Woodson and Stan Lee.

Edward Norton was a good narrator but I'm not allowed to talk about it. Although in the credits he's just named as 'the narrator', on the VHS packaging Edward Norton was shockingly called Jack, as in the 'I am Jack's..' commentary.I couldn't believe that the marketing team had made such a glaring error with something so important.

Sam Elliot is the only narrator I've heard lose his train of thought, so he gets it.
