Americans tend to think of France primarily as the area around Paris when it comes to culture be that art, drama or cuisine. How do other areas of the country differ. I assume the culture of South of the country on the Mediterranean is different than that part of the country that is in the Alps. Enlighten me.

I assume the culture of South of the country on the Mediterranean is different than that part of the country that is in the Alps. Enlighten me. Phew. It's not like I'm an expert but for example, my region is at the border with Germany, so unsurprisingly the local culture is heavily influenced by German culture. We have the Alsatian dialect which is very similar to German (fun fact: the language Amish people speak is a variation of it as they originate from Alsace), our local dishes are similar to the kind of stuff you'd find in Germany, etc... We're a bit of a mixture between Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. The south is known for their appreciation of apéritifs, pétanque (a game where you try to get two or three brass balls as close to a cork ball as possible while knocking away the opponent's balls) and oddly, I'd say their culture is closer to the stereotype of French people than Paris is (lots of farmers, lots of people wearing berets, traditional music frequently uses accordions, they're rude assholes, etc). Also, olives. Seriously, olives grow very well in the south, especially South-East, so a lot of their food includes olives. The North-West, being coastal, relies heavily on fishing and naval trade for its economy to this day and of course, with the Normandy invasion, the memory of World War 2 is very much alive (as it is here due to the region being annexed, making it part of Germany for a few years). Brittany also has crèpes as their most famous local dish, and it comes it all sorts of variations.

Do the French hate Quebec as much as the rest of us?

Do the French hate Quebec as much as the rest of us? No, but Québec hates us to compensate. Honestly though, France-Québec relations are pretty good and any ribbing is generally playful. And we just love making fun of their accent.

Which is your favorite version of "La Poupée qui fait non", or do you even like the song?
Note: For us English speakers, the Birds and Dana Gillespie both did pretty good English versions of the song (though Gillespie changed the title to No No No).

Speaking of French comics how popular is Asterix in 2017. Still pretty dang popular. I mean, they don't release new books nearly as often as they used to, what with the death of the original writer and the original artist no longer being able to draw due to health issues, but the series does go on with a new artist and writer, though it's always tough for new people to convince the crowd as in Europe, it's extremely rare for a comic series to be passed on to other artists. Most of the time, even with a massively successful franchise, it dies with its creator (for example, no-one took up the candle for Tintin despite that being a worldwide success). There are exceptions but they are very rare and I can think of only maybe one or two that got the public's approval afterwards. That said, they have been releasing new albums a bit more frequently since the new guys took over so it looks like the series still has a bright future ahead of itself and when it comes to cartoons, movies and stuff like that, those always make big bucks even when they're critical failures. Well I might to have to check out the new ones since I haven't touched any of new Asterix comics since Asterix and the Falling Sky which was shite. Though a friend of mine went to the Asterix theme park a couple of months ago and according to him it was one of the best theme parks he has ever been to. Though I must why does France have such a great train system.

What do the French think of the Mexican- American holiday of Cinco De Mayo? ( Celebrating a mexican defeat of the French in battle) A big excuse for people here to eat tacos and drink tequila.

That's not a question, professor. Oh... sorry, thought this was the "recommend a movie for you to review" thing happening again. So, have you seen "The Purge: Anarchy"?

Note: For us English speakers, the Birds and Dana Gillespie both did pretty good English versions of the song (though Gillespie changed the title to No No No). Have you been to the Effel Tower? Boxers or briefs? Briefs. Boxers are evil. Did you learn English in high school? Or did you know English and have to learn french? I learned it in school though I did take extracurricular classes as a child for two years before entering "collège" (the equivalent of junior high), which probably helped a lot to teach me the basics. Though I must why does France have such a great train system. (I assume you meant you must ask why) Because we tried to make it suck and we failed. That's how incompetent we are. What do the French think of the Mexican- American holiday of Cinco De Mayo? ( Celebrating a mexican defeat of the French in battle) A big excuse for people here to eat tacos and drink tequila. We don't think anything of it because I'm pretty sure 95% of people here don't even know it's a thing. That's not a question, professor. Oh... sorry, thought this was the "recommend a movie for you to review" thing happening again. So, have you seen "The Purge: Anarchy"? I have and I loved it. Haven't seen the original but from what I hear, this sequel did a lot more with the premise and it made for a very fun movie. Obviously it stretches suspension of disbelief quite a bit but it really pulls it off, thanks especially to a very strong lead character. Easilythe best Punisher movie yet. Election Day was very fun too but I feel like it lost a bit of Anarchy's energy due to following a more streamlined storyline and dabbling less into the generalised insanity that such an event would cause.
