I quite enjoyed this one. Love seeing people do a recap of Crisis. It's dense but the brave ones tend to do a decent job covering it. I'm actually surprised - well, not really - that he's covered Countdown already; I completely missed that one apparently. Easily the best Xover there ever has been. Though my favorite is still Acts of Vengeance. It's close. I love Crisis, and it's a thousand times more important; but Acts came out just as I was gettin into comics and is just fun Acts was a pretty straightforward and sorta brilliant concept for a crossover - put heroes up against villains who they're not used to, chaos & drama ensues. And one that didn't really have a core book/series (the key stuff was in Avengers and Cap, IIRC) which seems like a novel idea nowadays. My favorite crossover is probably Underworld Unleashed, which was basically DC's Acts but with a core book and (no slight intended) central plot to the overall story. But I do have BOTH Acts Omnibi so it's up there in regards to how much I liked it.

Yeah, he covered Countdown back in year 1 or 2 of his show...in 4 episodes (one giving a bit of backstory on it, two covering the event, 25 issues first part and 26 second, and one episode that was a top 15 worst things about it).

He should do "futures End"
pretty much my reaction to the final issue
There was no point to it, It was basically a 49 issue prologue to "Batman Beyond" (Which too SUCKED, I like Beyond but New 52's was awful)

I'm curious to see how Linkara feels about Secret Wars.
Granted I've just listened to the Graphic Audio adaptation rather than the original comic run, but the plot felt a little bare at times. There's some interesting character stuff there, but it feels a hampered by the constant fights against the villains on Battleworld. Its like the most video game esque excuse plot I've seen in a comic.

The book was just made to sell actions figures (which ruled) so plot was pretty incidental. It's why Beyonder was kind of a bare bones character. Dr. Doom had some stellar moments, and Shooter did give stuff to most of the characters to do; and you had Mike Zeck art, so all in all it suceeded even if it was a pretense just to get everyone to fight to sell toys. It worked.
And again, those figures were amazing.
Funny story there, the first set of figures, Spidey was in his red and blues. In the second wave of figures, he was in the black suit.
I had both figures. So I'd play that the black suited Spider-man was a stronger, evil version of him.
Now granted, this was back in 1985ish and I was 7 years old. I mean, a mean a black suited evil version of Spider-man.. who would believe that?

Somewhat off-topic, but since Linkara mentioned it in his review, I'm considering it fair game - I got my hands on a cheap copy of the Zero Hour trade last week. The story is... not particularly good. It really felt like they just wanted to get to that ending and they wrote four and a half issues of filler to get there. That said, it is a wonderful time capsule of characters, versions of characters, and looks of characters that were completely unique to my favorite era of comic book history, the 90's, and most likely will never be seen again due to the general opinion of that era by modern comic creators. It even featured an appearance by a pre-Starman Jack Knight.
