In some cases, it'd be retailer(s) selling items before they're supposed to. If you got it a few days early at a Best Buy - which is probably when they actually get it, it's not like it shows up early Tuesday a.m. before the store opens, that'd be the case. But this sounds different - direct from their distribution center - and in this case I'd reckon there's a prior agreement with Best Buy and the DVD/Blu-Ray manufacturers. I mean, you pre-ordered it and that seems like it'd probably be a perk for doing so; maybe they always do that, maybe every so often. Back around 1999-2000 my local comic store I had a pull list at would sell new comics a few days early - big no-no, and soon after they started this they got caught and IIRC penalized for it by the distributor. It is not the first time like I said in the OP. I got my copy of "Furious 7" in the main exactly the day before it was released. My copy of "xXx: Return of Xander Cage" came in four days before it was released. I think I should try doing this more. Besides, I can't go wrong with having a copy of something a little sooner than its release. By the way, I remember some guy in high school claimed to have gotten a copy of GTA Vice City a few weeks before its release at Best Buy. In a lot of ways, I think he lied about it, because with the way he said it, he talked about how great it was like he went through a lot of the game in one night. Granted, I know that it's possible to do that, but I sensed that he stretched the truth a bit.
