Yup. This is one of those "sketch" episodes. So, just giving all of you a fair warning.

Ahh the good old days of 2016...he's seriously jumped the shark since he started covering recent stuff.

These sketch episodes are atrocious. Yikes.

Ahh the good old days of 2016...he's seriously jumped the shark since he started covering recent stuff. it gets more views. Youtubers dont see "oh Nostalgia Critic is doing a review", they see "The Force Awakens Review" and a wacky thumbnail. It's probably forced on him by Michaud too.

So I'm not gonna watch this because I hate sketch reviews.
But I did recently watch Suicide Squad on the airplane coming home from Seattle. My God what a mess of a movie. The first 40 minutes of it just felt so poorly paced and unnecessary.

Sketch episode: "Stop trying to make Demo Reel happen. It's not going to happen."

Okay, I watched it.
It was... alright. Had its moments. Overall kinda average, but I get why people don't like the sketch episodes.

Sketch episode: "Stop trying to make Demo Reel happen. It's not going to happen." *Looks at number of hits the video has gotten in one day, compared to non-sketch ones that have been online for a while* I kinda think it kinda happened.

Sketch episode: "Stop trying to make Demo Reel happen. It's not going to happen." It's so they don't get copyright striked or demonetized because Warner are jerks.

It's also a more recent movie (not to sound like a defensive fan but it's a fun one to shit on) and it probably appears on the side bar of Cinema Sins and Honest Trailers videos.

I feel alone in actually enjoying Suicide Squad. I thought it was just a lot of fun. Fun action scenes, fun dialogue, fun characters, good soundtrack. I liked it.

I wouldn't even said I thought it was "good" but I enjoyed it. Sometimes you need a movie like that you can enjoy and leave from.

I enjoyed it for what it was but it suffers from having so many things that could have been done better, and probably were done better before the editing got out of hand. Just so many bad choices all around.

To be honest, Doug's gimmick got old when he "killed off" the Nostalgia Critic the first time. Now it's just beating a dead horse.
I'm not a fan of his newer stuff but it seems many viewers are. I think a lot of people here fell sour about his new stuff because he's abandon what made him a big deal and has turned into a newer audience. I could say how much he sucks but that's just my two cents, if it's getting more views than good on him. It's hard for me to knock someone for being successful.

In terms of the superhero genre, I enjoyed it more than most of DC & Marvel's offerings. The pacing was wonky, very wonky - no doubt. But I totally agree it was more fun than people give it credit for. It had better character arcs than most other superhero movies combined and all the performances were really charismatic/well-crafted. I think it suffered most from not being enough like a superhero movie as we know it. People want origin stories and melodrama and cartoon-like action sequences. I'd barely even put Suicide Squad in the superhero genre - it felt more like a war/'nam - type movie to me, which is why I can actually probably stand to watch it multiple times unlike most films in the superhero genre.

I thought it suffered greatly from doing the typical destructive-laser-shooting-in-the-sky-hundreds-of-indistinguishable-enemies thing that pops up way too often in these films. If anything it should have been more different.

I'm fine with this movie just because it spawned a collaboration between Rick Ross and Skrillex. Purple Lamborghini is straight fire.
