www.cbr.com/watchmen-r-rated-animated-movie/Story is from a month ago, but I only just learned about it and couldn't find anyone bringing it up on here previously. Curious how they cram this into the New 52-verse and make it all about Damian. That should be challenging. Seriously though, I have no idea how to feel about this idea. It seems completely unnecessary and like it could very easily go wrong, but if they gave it the double movie Dark Knight Returns treatment and the same amount of love and attention to detail that got I could see it managing to be really good. I don't really mind the live action movie but it does certainly have its fair share of issues.

If you consider the motion comic to be animation, then this will actually be the second animated Watchmen.

The only way this works is exactly the way Lizuka said, by splitting it in half and trying to bring the artwork and story to life. If they pull their typical DC animated mediocrity here, it's going to be bad, and a huge missed opportunity.

They're not really going to try and cram it into their New 52 continuity, are they?

Honestly, even spot on faithful feels pretty pointless. you have the comic, you have the movie, you have the motion comic. It's pretty well covered.

I'd also quibble with the article saying that Killing Joke's animation was in Bolland's style. They recreated a lot of it, but it definitely wasn't half as detailed or great looking as his pencils.

And Moore pulls another clump of his beard out Assuming he comes out of his magic cave long enough to find out about this. Maybe he'll call Batman and comics stupid and childish again.

Base it on one of the failed scripts that didn't get the point of the original story.
As Kev mentioned above, the "faithful" grounds been pretty well covered, do something crazy and stupid and fun with it now.

You already have a live-action move that's about as faithful an adaptation of the comic possible, why on Earth would you make an animated version too? This is like a reverse Beauty and the Beast.

Watchmen won't have Emma Watson, So it's already better than "Beauty & The Beast" But yeah this is POINTLESS, Knowing DC/WB they'll somehow find a way to shoehorn Batman, Damian & Harley in there somewhere.

Well... except for missing the entire point... but with the shot for shot reenactments of some of the scenes... and the motion comic this really doesn't need to exist.
