Always had a soft spot for Roger Moore as he always seemed in on the joke about his acting ability and never took himself seriously. 89 though, man...he had a good life, lived to a decent age and will always be a Bond. Quite the legacy.
Rest in peace, Sir Roger, and keep the British end up.

I literally just looked him up the other day to see what he was up to, and was happy to see he was still with us. Had no idea about the cancer. RIP Sir.

His last tweet was about Herve Villechaize. That makes me happy for some reason.

He was the grand old uncle that was always there. A comforting presence and a reminder of old fashioned values.
RIP Mr. Bond, you played the role best in my eyes.

I thought he was the worst James Bond, but he did have a few good ones in there. RIP.

He was, by far, my all time favourite 007. He was suave and sophisticated. The embodiment of an English gentlemen.
RIP

He may not have been the best Bond (or even the worst Bond, step forward Mr. Brosnan) but to me he IS Bond. He was the first person I ever saw play the character so whenever someone says "James Bond", he is the first image that appears in my head. He never took himself too seriously and seemed to have a whale of a time making these films, even going on-set on his days off just to piss around and try to make people laugh whilst filming a scene. RIP

Guy really did a great job delivering an effective yet contrasting performance to his predecessor's. That Connery was so iconic and yet there's still debates about him vs. Moore on who was better tells you how good the latter was.
This now marks the second actor to play Bond to pass away after the death of Barry Nelson (Jimmy Bond in the American TV version of Casino Royale) in 2006. Third if you count David Niven's turn in the 1967 Casino Royale.

We've never lost a James Bond before. RIP Sir sir. That's not entirely accurate. We had previously lost an actor that played Bond on film (David Niven), one that played him on a radio show (Bob Holness), and one that played him on TV before the film series was as thing (Barry Nelson). Having said that, Moore was the first Bond that I remember (his run lasted the first 10 years of my life). He certainly was unforgettable for me. He wasn't my favorite, but I still enjoyed him as Bond quite a bit. His passing makes me sad. RIP Edit: I see I was not the first to point any of this out.

just like tom baker, roger moore was my bond growing up, and probably the first bond movie i saw on tv was live and let die ..... and i could have went to see moonraker in the cinema, but alas i didn't. and he didn't play being an english french-scot that bad either and cannonball run is a right good laugh but i also liked GOLD too side note, his simon templer was before my time, but i thoroughly enjoyed the 80's version with ian ogalvy rip the gentleman bond ..... he'll be attempting that re-entry now!
