Anyone ever play the older metal gears? The ones on the NES? That's where its at. Metal Gear on NES and Snake's Revenge are both great games. There's a lot of people who like to crap on them now (especially Snake's Revenge) because of how they "butchered" the gameplay or the spelling mistakes. The games aren't perfect, but problems with them are relatively minor. To be quite honest, if it wasn't for the "Westernized NES version" of Metal Gear, there's a good chance that Metal Gear wouldn't have been a franchise. In Japan, Metal Gear got little attention at the time and undersold during it's life time. Again, the NES port has problems but I always felt that was Kojima's biggest problem; the game sold well without him being involved. Again, it's the Western audience that made Snake's Revenge possible because the NES Metal Gear was such a hit, which in turn allowed for Kojima to make his "true" sequel Metal Gear 2. I'd gladly play those butchered games over the cluster f*** that is MGS4.
