Whenever football grounds get named after a sponsor I still call it by the old name. Like the City of Manchester Stadium, I never call it the Etihad Arena. This. I refuse to call the Britannia Stadium the bet365 stadium. It's so lame sounding.

Does calling Shazam Captain Marvel count? I'm so used to correcting myself when I'd slip up and call him Shazam and now it's the other way around.

We're getting a newer, much bigger Aldi in my town, but the place they're gonna build it will forever be known to me as the field I buried those teens in

Our local shopping centre used to have the fairly unique name of 'The Harlequin'. The it was absorbed into the nationwide 'intu (insert placename here)' franchise. Everyone still calls it The Harlequin. And frankly if they can't even spell into right, why should I bother?

an obvious one... not really to me... but to a lot of people it will always be the "WWF" My dad still refers to KFC as Kentucky Fried Chicken. Well they still are Kentucky Fried Chicken, just like IHOP is still International House of Pancakes. there buildings use the Acronyms but the full names are still Registered Trademarks. and they use Kentucky Fried Chicken in some of their commercials. edit: Thought of one... rather random but a small theater has had like 20 different names... I usually refer to it as the Westbury Music Fair... even though I don't think it was named that in like 10 years. It's funny because I have to specify what KFC I want because on Long Island there is also Kennedy Fried Chicken

Sacramento will always be the City of Trees, not the dumbass "Farm to Fork Capital of the World" Even I thought that was a stupid change, especially when it repainted on the water tower by I-5.

the big mall in Toronto will always be the Eaton Center even though Eaton's as a company was liquidated like 15 years ago (actually, probably even before that).

I still call MetLife Stadium "Giants Stadium," even though it was never called that. Giants Stadium was the name of the stadium it replaced.
I'll also join in with the people who said Sears Tower.

Two local pub examples here in Halesowen.
Pub called the Chainmaker, which was originally called the Talbot. Everyone just called it the Talbot anyway. Its now a nursery called Little Hands, but everyone still just calls it the Talbot.
Bit of a reverse example. There's this pub which has cycled through a whole load of generic pub names, but had one colloquial unofficial name. At one point, the pub was owned by a widow, so it was referred to as the widow's, which in our local accent and dialect became the Widders, which is now the official name because everyone just kept calling it that.

Came to say Sears Tower. Glad to see it was the first reply. I don't even know what the current name is anymore, didn't they change it again? I always say 'Mapquest' instead of 'Google Maps' or even the generic GPS. Mapquest changed my life, you see, and it also killed almanacs and maps being sold in gas stations in general. Did Mapquest rebrand as Google Maps? Thought these were two different things. They are two different things but one replaced the other quite completely. I just still call the t "MapQuesting" when I open up my Maps app, heh

Also my parents still occasionally call Costco "Price Club" even though it hasn't been Price Club in like 15 years if not more.
