bgr.com/2016/03/10/screening-room-movies-streaming-release-date/According to Variety, Sean Parker wants movie fans to be able to stream new releases as soon as premiere day. The project is known as Screening Room, and involves a special $150 set-top box packed with anti-piracy technology. Then, in addition to that hefty upfront cost, you’d have to pay $50 for every movie you want to see on release day. Every time you pay to watch a movie in the privacy of your home, you can stream it only once within 48 hours after making the purchase. It's an old article, but this slipped under my radar and maybe it's been posted, but what do you think of this? paying $50 a month for big screen films in your home legit while they are in theaters. Compare that with however you spend at the movie for a date, or your family and if you're an avid movie goer this seems like it could be a good deal Sean Parker, founder of Napster, in a new article says he wants to fight online piracy in this case, which is rather ironic, don't ya think? It may never happen, but thoughts? EDIT:Just realized it was per movie, screw that

Sounds like trying to meld newly released movies with the traditional sports PPV concept.

Seems like a hefty price but I support the expense because it'll keep the theaters going strong.

Prince point is too high - but I like the idea.
The theater experience will always be there for people who want to go out on a date or something but for people who just want to watch a new movie without the increasingly common annoyances of other people talking, texting, etc during the movie it's more ideal.
I've had to ask so many people to not talk during a movie that it's become something I anticipate having to do and it kinda hinders my experience sometimes.

Way too expensive for me. 150 dollars up front and then 50 dollars for each movie that you can only watch once.

I could see maybe $20. 50 is way too high.

So, with an initial investment of $150, and $50 per release... if I charge $10 each to see the movie without a stupid audience... Yeah, I could get behind this.

Two adults with one kid and with snacks is maybe 30 dollars in the some parts of the Midwest.

Yeah, exactly especially to avoid the bullshit involved in going to see a Marvel, DC or Star Wars movie anywhere close to opening day. I can think of 10 of my friends off the top of my head that'd chip in for this if it ever happened. .

So yeah - they'll definitely have to play with that price point no matter what.

My local theatre which is one of those deluxe ones with recliners and couches and food delivery to your seat is 6.00 for the matinee, 10.00 for regular and 12.00 for IMAX/3D. It's great. Plus they have Cheapskate Tuesday where everything all day is 4.00

I'd definitely be hitting that up.

I feel like I'm turning into an old man because I just won't go to the movies unless it's the first showing of the day because I don't want to deal with all the people who come out for the evening shows. Exception being if its a retro screening late at night.

I go to the movies alone all the time and I don't ever deal with people talking. Then again, it depends on where I sit. Personally, I prefer actually GOING TO theaters.
