That is tthe tour. Thank you so much.I been trying to remember who else was on that show. Back then I had a habit of drinking a bit too much at shows. So lots of the time I remember the first two acts and that is it. I was just lucky. Where I grew up it was 25 minutes to Mobile AL,1 hour 20 minutes to Pensacola FL,45 to 50 minutes to Biloxi MS,About an hour to Hattisberg MS,1 hour 20 minutes to New Orleans. Between all those cities most tours made a stop. My high school years I was hitting at the very least 2 concerts a month. Almost all the cash I made at my first job went to concert tickets and gas. I'm in a similar situation now with my location and it's definitely great for catching shows (though perhaps not one's wallet). By the sound of it, a lot of fans who saw shows on that tour would throw things at the band while they played. It's funny because, of all the Seattle bands, Alice is the most metal. I wish I could have gone to an Alice show back then and seen Layne perform live. If those crowds only knew what they were seeing at the time! I got lucky and saw AIC with Layne 3 times. But I was the right age in the right place at the right time. I sadly never got to see Nirvana.

There are a ton of metal bands that are huge(for the metal scene) on their first national tours here in the States. Black Dahlia Murder, Unearth, Amon Amarth, Opeth, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy. Also a band named Burn The Priest would constantly play this punk house in West Philly before they changed their name to Lamb of God. I'm insanely jealous that you saw Amon Amarth live. Multiple times. First was a 15 minute opening set for In Flames when Vs. The World came out.

I saw New Found Glory at a show my brothers band played. There were 7 bands playing on the show. My brothers band played 2nd. New Found Glory played 3rd. All of 10 people stayed in the venue to watch them.
I saw Mudvaynne before their first album came out. They were amazing.
I saw Lawrence Arms (big enough in the punk scene) play in the basement of a bar in front of 20 people.

I saw Faith Hill open for Travis Tritt when she was barely known and had maybe one hit, if that counts.

I saw Twenty One Pilots and X Ambassadors on separate occasions before their songs started popping up everywhere.

No but I saw Blues Traveler after John Popper has gastric bypass surgery so that was kind of the opposite.

Thought of another one. I saw Puddle of Mudd playing a Pavillion stage (as in the picnic kind, not the amphitheater kind) at a local festival on Mothers Day in 2001. This was months before the release of Come Clean.

Not really an opening act for anyone, but I saw Thursday headline at some local place years back when they were just a smalltime local NJ band. They got pretty big in the screamo/emocore scene a few years later. this made me spotify them, because i couldn't remember what song i loved in high school. signals over the air, btw
