I often wonder about these releases. It seems that Shout/Scream Factory are known for releasing DVD's and Blu Rays of cult films and have some good extras. I mean for these films to have a release with extras when their original releases didn't provide them, that shows that they do have a following enough to put out some special editions. I am still a little unfamiliar with Arrow Video, but I looked on Amazon and some seem interesting that I want to check out. Though I have never heard of some of those films before.
Regarding The Criterion Collection, I remember having done a thread on this four years ago and there are some releases that I have yet to check out. I remember buying the Criterion release of Dazed and Confused for my mom as Christmas present one year, but I still have yet to see how the video and audio are. It has been said that Criterion releases have some good picture and sound. I still have the DVD of Chasing Amy, which was a Criterion release as well.
Now that I think about it, Lionsgate had put out a series of collectible Blu Rays of the old studio called Vestron. I think some of the movies that were released under that series were Waxwork, Blood Diner, The Gate (Which I remember watching on a local channel way back when), Serial Mom, etc.
My question is are any of these releases worth it? I saw that Shout Factory is releasing a Blu Ray of Trespass, which is kind of tempting, even though I own the Universal DVD release of it (I have heard that the Goodtimes Video one has lackluster picture and sound). Also, Shout has put out RoboCop 2 and 3 on Blu Ray, though I may only get the second film. The third film, maybe as part of the collection despite having heard a bunch of negative things about it (Never have seen the whole thing).

Arrow releases are definitely worth purchases, But if you're after a flick that also has a shout/Scream factory release you might as well go for them as they're more often than not identical.
Shout Factory annoys me because they region lock their Blue Rays and some of their releases aren't here (Prince Of Darkness)

Criterion and Arrow are always reference quality in the video department, even on 50, 60, and even 70 year old films. They're also rock solid in the extras department.
Shout can be a bit hit or miss in video quality, but at bare minimum, are still acceptable for HD quality. It really depends on the source they`re given to work with, as they don`t have the same resources as, say, Criterion, who can do all their film transfers and remastering in-house. They can just put out what they`re given. But they always go out of their way to create the best set of extras pôssible.

Arrow Video does amazing things with their releases. several movies that were edited to shit have been restored as close as possible to their original cut. they always cost a bit more than I would ormally pay for a blu-ray but you always get your bang for your buck.

I know a good deal about these types of releases... [ HEAVY BREATHING INTENSIFIES] For me, Criterion/Arrow/Shout has never been about the picture quality (which is all tip-top), it's the extras, and how deep they get into examining how the movie came together, and the reflections of their place in the world. It's really neat watching the approaches to movies that could have stayed in the cult niche or been lost outright get their time in the sun.

I have several of their movies, and got screwed because my B-R player wouldn't play them, even though I've had PAL releases that played in the player before. Dumb me, I didn't realize that those discs were all-region discs, while Arrow UK's discs were just region 2. I need to pick up an all-region B-R player sometime.

Even more so than Shout/Scream Factory. Sure, Shout will put the movie out in HD and that's always a good thing, but Arrow gives stuff like The Mutilator and Blood Rage HD releases with multi-discs featuring more than one cut and loads of extras. Shout sometimes like to skip out on the extras.

I know a good deal about these types of releases... Did you buy those shelves or have them custom made? I got similar ones but they were made by my father. My small shelf is 7 foot tall and about 4 foot wide. My big shelf is 6 1/2 feet wide and 8 foot tall. I love Shout Factory,Arrow and Criterion. Been into Criterion since I was into laserdiscs back in the early to mid 90s. All three companies put out great product. With Criterion you know you are gonna almost all the time get the best picture and sound. Shout does the best they can with what they get and same with Arrow.

Got a handful of Shout blus (Bill & Ted, Army of Darkness, They Live, The Thing, TAMI Show/Big TNT), think Stray Cat Rock is the only Arrow I have...and over 300 Criterions. Just picked up Ghost World, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, The Exterminating Angel, Blow-Up and Fox and His Friends. Think I have 6 or 7 of their Eclipse sets as well.
