Some of these I've heard of, some of them I've only heard of for the first time. Either way, I'm sure a few people here would like to discuss whether this is a good list or not. www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/06/09/movies/the-25-best-films-of-the-21st-century.html{Spoiler}{Spoiler}There Will Be Blood Spirited Away Million Dollar Baby A Touch of Sin The Death of Mr. Lazaescu Yi Yi Inside Out Boyhood Summer Hours The Hurt Locker Inside Llewyn Davis Timbuktu In Jackson Heights L'Enfant White Material Munich Three Times The Gleaners and I Mad Max: Fury Road Moonlight Wendy and Lucy I'm Not There Silent Light Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The 40-Year-Old Virgin

Kind of a weird list. Obviously a lot of great films missing in a list like this but...From the ones I've seen, I agree they're great films. The only eyebrow-raisers for me were "Boyhood" and "Inside Out".

This list must be fake, there's not a single WWE Studios film on it.

Well it's refreshing to see a list that isn't so predictable and quite random. Anyways these are probably my Top 11 in no order. Movies that would probably make it to my top 25.
-Children of Men -21 Jump Street -The Dark Knight -Prisoners -City of God -Spring Breakers -Oldboy -Scott Pilgrim vs. The World -Extract -Crank 2 High Voltage -Elite Squad: The Enemy Within (Best watched back to back with Elite Squad, less of a sequel and more of a volume think Kill Bill. Like you can easily edit it into one film and make it a 4 hour epic and no one would bat an eye)

Not to my taste. Spirited Away is great though

I'd put No Country for Old Men on there somewhere.

No Country for Old Men and The Dark Knight were both good picks for omitted films in this thread so far.
Million Dollar Baby and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are both for sure toward the top of the list.
Inside Out and The 40-Year-Old Virgin are pretty dumb picks though.

Inside Out nearly gave me and countless of other adults a nervous breakdown and there isn't a lot of kid movies that touch on the subject it's okay to be sad. The 40 Year Old Virgin pick through me off a bit but than you realize how much influence that movie had on the comedy genre this Century and how many careers it launched. Often when I make lists, I usually put lots of emphasis on influence and criteria. Like outside of being a great f***ing layered movie, I love how the Jump Street Films correctly predicted that Hollywood is going to continue being lazy and misinterpret the reason for it's own success by continuing the raunchy meta Rated R formula on other rebooted series as seen with CHIPS and Baywatch.

I remember finding 21 Jump Street pretty funny, but was it really this commentary piece and I missed something? Even still, 21 Jump Street as one of the top films of the century?

That's...certainly a list of 25 films. Fury Road and maybe Eternal Sunshine would make my own list. There Will be Blood and Inside Llewyn Davis probably in top 50.

Inside out? Not terrible but plenty of other childrens movies that were better. Like shrek, toy story 3, etc.

Eh, it's their opinion.
I will say there are a few films on that list- Moonlight, Fury Road, Inside Out, Spirited Away- that are among my favorite movies ever.
My list would look radically different, but I wouldn't declare them "the definitive best films of this century". They would just be the 25 pictures this century I enjoyed the most.

I remember finding 21 Jump Street pretty funny, but was it really this commentary piece and I missed something? Even still, 21 Jump Street as one of the top films of the century? Once again it's a personal list and it's all subjective and I found it as one of the funniest films of this Century. The movie's impact did have a major influence on many studio films so much it is one of the most influential films of the 21st Century. You look at 22 Jump Street and it's used as the gold standard when ranking comedy sequels. Reason being comedy sequels being good is an extreme rarity especially if a sequel is of equal or better than the predecessor. Plus I don't know. I just like how it deconstructed Hollywood by taking a TV Series nobody was asking to be rebooted in the first place, that was a product of it's times, and by turning it a Crude Rated R series with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill which is a nightmare for the fans of the show. But it was actually respectful to the series not alienating any fans, and still a great standalone film. There's also the fact the movie was surprisingly modern depiction of high school and how much can change in 7 years. So you could call it commentary on "The Progressive Millenial Generation" I guess. Or tropes of action, buddy cop, highschool films. It's just a great film that is a lot smarter and layered than people give it credit for.

I don't think There Will Be Blood is a great film. I think it is an above average film with one great acting performance.
