Equestria Girls TV Special No. 1 "Dance Magic"...gets a 7/10.

Pros:

-Rarity was, of course, one of the highlights in this special. Going into a real tour de force of being happy, inspiring, sad, on the verge of despair, Rarity made every scene with her a bit more funnier. And now I can confirm...the nomnomnoms returned and they were even more adorable than back in "Inspiration Manifestation" IMHO. Rarity definitely was the highlight of this special.

-The ideas of the others (OK, Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie only) were very enjoyable, made even more so by Rarity's reaction to them. Especially the art style of Pinkie's was the funniest thing I have seen in a while EG-related.

-The music video with the accompanying song was nice to look at (except for the repeated footage) and made for an excellent end to the whole thing.

-Liked that Sunny Flare and Lemon Zest got at least something more to do here than what they did in the third movie.

-Some nice bits of humor throughout made this one enjoyable.

Cons:

-Feel like it would have been better if the Crystal Prep girls lost to the Rainbooms after Rarity pulls out another idea and afterwards redeemed themselves with Rarity giving them half of the prize money. The whole thing with them forgiving them beforehand and coming together to create a dance music video seemed very...convenient. But I guess the writer wanted to prove that he/she did not completely ripped off "Rarity Takes Manehattan".

-While Sugarcoat kept her quirk from the movie, I don't get why they got rid of Sour Sweet's quirk which appeared briefly during her first appearance and then completely vanished for the rest of the special. Was it too complicated for the writer to keep her as a redeemable character with the quirk? Anywho, its sad to get rid of an established character trait like that.

-Most of the other mane cast members did not contribute much to the special like most of the episodes where the whole group is present but the focus is only on one or two characters. In "Rarity Takes Manhattan" the story made sense that way, but here it makes the other characters seem superfluous.


So yeah, 7/10 for "Dance Magic".
