How did this even happen? Dont get me wrong, Bat out of Hell II was a pretty cool album and all, but it sticks out like a sore thumb between all the other popular music of 1993 (Nirvana, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Pearl Jam, etc). What caused him to suddenly regain his popularity for a time?

'70s nostalgia was starting to become a thing, Meat Loaf was coming off a memorable cameo in Wayne's World, and "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" was a great song.

Yesterday's meat loaf is today's sloppy joe. My breath reeks of tuna and there's lots of black hair comin' outta my nose.

wasn't the original Bat Out of Hell huge in the 70's? I guess the sequel title of this album got it attention and it took off.

Bat II doesn't seem that out of context when you look at how Steinman was getting top 10 hits in Europe working with The Sisters Of Mercy in the late 80s with "This Corrosion", then a few years after Bat II you had Celine Dion getting one of her biggest hits with a retread of "It's All Coming Back To Me Now". Every couple of years we'd see him popping up in the charts in some form or another, and with Steinman's music there's always something magic and always something new.
(Also, since it's vaguely on topic, just going to plug Bat Out Of Hell: The Musical, which is in London now. I've been 3 times already and it's the best thing I've ever seen on stage. Amazing cast - to the point where it's hard to go back to some of Meat's versions - and the songs are seamlessly tied together since this musical has been planned since before the original Bat album came out!)
