In fairness they are pretty diverse. They have a soft country ballads like "Photograph" and hard rock dick-sucking anthems like "Something in your Mouth," he's not completely off base.
I'm not a fan of either Chad or Chuck's but I'm not really a fan of the shitkicking that bands like Nickelback get either. I could see how someone can develop a sort of complex when you're everyone's go-to punching bag, even if you're as successful as they are.

This whole thing is the most 'high school', un-rock and roll bullshit. It's not a revelation that Nickelback is a shit band with shit songs. Stone Sour is also butt-rock, so that just makes all of this the sillier.
I do disagree that Slipknot is simply a "gimmick". They're not like KISS (And I like KISS). They actually have/had some seriously talented musicians in the band and their self-titled album and "Iowa" still hold up.
Corey Taylor responding to all of this by calling Chad ugly is probably the saddest, most pathetic thing ever. Then he makes it worse with the "Hello Kitty" line.
In summary:
- This is all so very silly and sad.
- Nickleback sucks.
- Stone Sour sucks.
- First couple of Slipknot albums do not suck.
- Corey Taylor is a 14-year-old boy screaming at the "preps" in the mall from the doorway of a Hot Topic.

I could never figure out how anyone Slipknot got any money when you have 25 guys in a band They make it on touring. According to Clown, they've never made a single cent on their royalties, but they've been touring big time for 18 years now so they make a decent living off that. Corey and Jim are (were in Jim's case) also in Stone Sour, which while a fair amount smaller, does do fairly well on its own right. |
