www.flickeringmyth.com/2017/06/warner-bros-developing-a-live-action-superman-red-son-movie/(tweets are in the article) I'll believe it when I see it. Vogt-Roberts says his rejected pitch for a Red Son film was a spinoff not starring either Cavill or Affleck. I don't see WB doing an unconnected Superman movie, but the dream sequence in Batman vs Superman sure reminded me of Red Son. If you don't know and haven't figured out from the photo, Red Son was an alternate reality comic where Superman landed in the Soviet Union instead of the USA.

But... Why?
Like, if it were an animated one that'd make perfect sense, but live action... I have absolutely no idea why you would ever even consider doing this.

Make good Superman film first before you go for your super edgy elseworld movies.

Make good Superman film first before you go for your super edgy elseworld movies. Yeah pretty much... If you can't get the normal version right why should I expect anything good to come out from an alternate take?

Yeah, this won't confuse casual movie goers.

Everyone above me is absolutely correct about needing stability first and the potential confusion for audiences.
On the other hand, I would be there opening night for a Superman: Red Son movie. It sounds AWESOME. On paper, anyway.

I'd like to see them do a Superman movie that doesn't fall into edgy territory again.

I don't want it. Original was good, if overrated (and that ending was just dumb), but don't need to see a different version. Maybe an animated dvd, other that that? Meh.
Tired of Bad Guy Superman.

As good of a story as Red Son is...this really isn't the time for it.

Exactly.
It's also kind of weird to me that this particular Elseworlds story is held up in such high regard. It's fine. I like it up until the last few pages; but it's nothing ground breaking or fantastic.

Make good Superman film first before you go for your super edgy elseworld movies. But Man of Steel was pretty well liked by fans even if critics had mixed feelings about it. So it's not like it was a bad movie by any means.

Personally I thought it was awful, besides the obvious problems with Clark and Pa Kent, Zod was especially terribly written.

"People aren't taking to morally conflicted, mopey Movie Superman."
"Got it! In the next film let's make him a crypto-fascist stooge for a foreign power!"
"Genius."

I think Red Son's a very good book, but Deconstructed Superman has been done to death at this point.
He needs an unironic script for a change. If Wonder Woman can make those elements work, what's the excuse?

Sure, why not, so long as it's good. Whether or not it fits in the DCEU doesn't really matter.
