Make good Superman film first before you go for your super edgy elseworld movies. But Man of Steel was pretty well liked by fans even if critics had mixed feelings about it. So it's not like it was a bad movie by any means. I wouldn't say well liked, I'd say mixed. It didn't have the fairly wide hatred BvS and Suicide Squad have, and still has people debating its merits, but there still seemed to be more negativity than anything and box office-wise it dropped like a stone from opening weekend indicating it got poor word of mouth. Good show of that despite opening stronger than Wonder Woman its second weekend was worse than that one's third and its third was worse than its fourth.

Sounds cool - I wish more studios would stop trying to do a shared universe. It's very constricting and usually doesn't create the best stuff, even if it is really profitable. I feel like its talking down to the audience (especially a comic book audience) to assume they won't be able to figure out something is a separate story. That's also the other downside of a shared universe driven industry - no one can make something potentially new/interesting with these properties because being canon takes precedent over being creative.
Red Son would be a great to see adapted as a one-off though, depending on the team behind it. It'd be ideal if they went super weird with it. Get Alex Garland to do it or something. I dunno - just something different from these superhero flicks would be nice.

I don't want it. Original was good, if overrated (and that ending was just dumb), but don't need to see a different version. Maybe an animated dvd, other that that? Meh. Tired of Bad Guy Superman. Completely forgot about the stupid ending... I liked the ending, screw both of you! It's the best ending Mark Millar ever did. Not saying a lot but still.

It was just kind of cheap. I wasn't any crazier bout it when JMS did something similar for Rising Stars.
I did like Red Son's version of Lex a lot.

In Soviet Russia, is Superman not kind of a sociopath?

In that particular story he was more a stabilizing force to Stalin that sort of became him.
All that said, given a lot of current events, I don't see Hollywood making a Russian Superman movie. At least not right now.

Dear Warren Brothers, the last time there was a good Superman movie Jimmy Carter was still president. Try harder dammit! Thank you.

Adjust it for the modern day and have Superman's spacepod land in North Korea rather than the USSR.

Exactly. It's also kind of weird to me that this particular Elseworlds story is held up in such high regard. It's fine. I like it up until the last few pages; but it's nothing ground breaking or fantastic. If I had my way, we'd get a Batman: I, Joker flick. It's an Elseworlds story where a descendant of Bruce Wayne leads a cult that basically controls all of Gotham. They take criminals, give them plastic surgery to look like Batman's famous rogues, and then the current "Batman" hunts them down and kills them before a large, Running Man-esque audience. And the "Joker" in this story, I think, was wrongfully imprisoned and he decides to take down "Batman". Not the most original story, but it's still sorta neat and fun, in an admittedly edgy 90s kinda way.

Also, I hated Man of Steel. No characters in it were likeable. The movie looked nice, I guess, but had nothing else going for it. Like everything else Snyder's done.
(Yet, somehow, I liked BvS.)

I'd be fine with an animated movie but not live action, Although if they did do an animated version they'd somehow shoehorn Damian in there.
I can't believe the last good Superman flick was Superman 2, MOS was garbage IMO Superman IV was more enjoyable (At least I can chuckle at that)

I feel like its talking down to the audience (especially a comic book audience) to assume they won't be able to figure out something is a separate story. You would think that, but I remember a lot of people being confused by Batman Begins because it didn't sync up with the 1989 Batman. There was also a huge portion of moviegoers who thought Thanos was Hellboy at the end of the first Avengers. I honestly assume the general public can't figure this stuff out.

Even having half his face burning off or covered in bandages in the hospital didn't tip her off.

What I mean is a lot of fans did enjoy it for what it was and while it was mixed as far as reception is concerned. It wasn't eviscerated like Suicide Squad or even Batman vs. Superman was.

Still can't believe they f***ed up killing joke that bad. On a side but unrelated note, i'm surprised they haven't tried to animate the years of injustice leading up to the 1st game. Then again I think people is going to be f***ing confused when year is one Black Canary vs Superman and then all of a sudden by Year 3 we got mr mxyzptlk vs Trigon and they are destroying the universe.
