It's how I learned of the mythos of HP Lovecraft. Not at the time, but years later (after spending much of the '90s sorta embarrassed about the movie - not the intro though) I read someone talking about it and they kept mentioning "Lovecraft" and "Cthulhu" in regards to Cobra-LalalalalalalalaLALALALALALALA - ahem - and after reading up on it myself, days later I owned like 3 or 4 Lovecraft anthology books. And of course that stupid phase of being embarrassed of this movie is long over... Fixed for truth.

The biggest thing I have to wonder...
How crazy would the reaction be if this movie came out first (as I heard was originally planned) and thus the "coma" line was never dubbed in?

If it had the same backlash, I'd imagine that TF:TM and Season 3 may be like that Transformers Deviations comic, "What if Optimus Prime never died?"

From what I've heard, the GI Joe audience was slightly older than the Transformers audience, so they MIGHT have been able to handle it, not to mention that Duke would have been the only character to die. With TF:TM, Prime's death was the climax of the massacre the first 15 or so minutes of THAT film was.

Took me a while to make the soundless connection (although you'll miss Doc's cameo at the end).
