Damn you, Nicholas Cage, for taking our pride and joy & turning it into a freaking shark film!

As with many videos and things I watch, I go right to Wikipedia to see how things match up.
July 30, 1945. Not June 29. Fact checkers, Hollywood, golly...
Secondly.......read up on the captain of the Indianapolis, Charles McVay. What a load of shit they put him thru, and that it took 50+ years to clear his name. Even the Japanese commander whose sub sunk the ship was part of the effort to defend and exonerate him (and then himself died 5 days before it finally happened).

One of my favorite scenes in any movie. Great stuff.
Jaws is really a masterpiece from top to bottom.

It's a perfect scene. The music, the reactions of Brody and Hooper, the sight of the horizon in the window slowly moving up and down, and the brilliance of Robert Shaw who for most of the film is a manic lunatic, but in this scene, he gets progressively more serious and you begin to understand that Quint is a very disturbed person who has never recovered from this trauma he's describing. You realise at this point that hunting the shark is basically a suicide mission for Quint, and he's as much a danger to Hooper and Brody as the shark.
