So I'm on a new med which has the side effect of insomnia, and here I am at 3am EST posting for you all. When I get to the point where I know I won't sleep at night, I find myself overtired to the point of near giddiness. I watch Netflix (Bollywood and cartoons), do some yoga, read through the forums. What's your favorite insomniac activity?

POOOOOOOOOOOOOR-*gets violently ejected out of thread*
Watching LPs has often helped. Not quite insomnia, but due my body aching as much as if I was still standing up, perhaps even worse than standing up, watching LPs on the phone helps distract me until I doze off.

Little to nothing helps my insomnia. Reading helps..I guess. Watching really boring shit on cable TV can help.

There is no cure for my insomnia. I will sleep great if I have a really good session with my GF but I don't see her enough to sleep regularly. I'll watch a movie and hope I get too tired to finish it but I usually don't. I find hanging around sites on the internet only makes time pass faster so I just stay up even later so that's no help at all.
I can't believe I've gotten by with two or three hours of sleep most of my life. Eight hours is considered healthy. I think I can count the number of times I've slept that long on my hand. I workout three or four days a week and I try to be active whenever I can but nothing tires me out. I've always had too much energy.

Tickle my wife just enough to annoy her but not enough to wake her up. If I'm going to suffer, everybody is going to suffer.

From when I was 14 or so until I hit my mid 30s I averaged at the most 4 hours sleep each night. Finally back in 2007 I got put on meds to help me sleep. They work great and only have two side effects. 1.I am always thirsty. 2.The meds cause me to have vivid dreams. Even with the meds at least once every 2 weeks I won't sleep for a day or so. I just use that extra time to get more stuff done.

the fun & insomnia dont go go together. This is really a big issue for me and has been for many . I lost a job once because I fell asleep at my desk , this was due to a bout of insomnia
