Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a quick search and found nothing on this topic. If I missed it, then lock away...
I was wondering why the Network doesn't broadcast Raw and Smackdown live as they happen. Is it something to do with USA having broadcast rights for live broadcasts?
Also, I'm wondering why they have Hulu do the "next day" uploads of the shows. Seems like having the Network host them is a no brainer.

And same with TV, it makes them more money than just posting it to the Network. The whole reason for the month delay, outside of their contract with USA, is that by a month later, no more money can be made off the episode anyway, so it goes up on the Network.

Advertising and sponsorship. Advertising is one of the two reasons why cable is still at afloat. If Raw and SD is off cable, it would probably at least triple in price. Plus cable is still the biggest platform in getting your brand outside of Netflix. But Netflix doesn't do live streaming.

USA and Hulu pays WWE money to air Raw and SmackDown.
WWE aren't going to pay themselves money to air them on the Network, and the added subscribers would probably not make up the difference.

It's a NBC Universal wide deal. USA Network airs it first, Hulu which NBC Universal owns a 30% stake gets next day and Universal HD airs Raw and Smackdown the following weekend.

Basically what everyone said, it boils down to TV rights issues. And the fact that WWE really, REALLY can't afford to just self-host, because being on TV is the main thing that gives them broad exposure, there's no real way to bring in new viewers for a niche subscription service, and there's far more money to be made from the TV contracts than from streaming.
