Episode 2 thoughts:
Belle/Evers: Oof, that was rough. Kacy Catanzaro?! Loved her on American Ninja Warrior, but I'm not sure I buy her as a wrestler. Rhea Ripley is cool. Logan/Yim was a dope match. My favorite of the tournament thus far.

Few Thoughts of About 1st Round
Baszler has that Brock aura about her. She looks the part and acts it as well. Badass cocky motherf***er.
Jazzy with more time in the PC could be the female Braun. SHE'S NOT FINISHED WITH YOU! Her match with Abbey Laith was fun.
True rookies Xia Li and Kavita Devi could be a big deals. With WWE going more into China and IndiaΒ both could have bright futures. They definitely need alot of work, but they have something special.
Best Match of Round 1: 3 way tie between Mia Yim vs. Sara Logan, Piper Niven vs. Santana Garrett and Kairi Sane vs. Tessa Blanchard . Just three really good matches.
Worst Match of Round 1: Marti Belle vs. Racel Evers I hadn'tΒ even watch episode 3 or 4 yet. Didn't read any spoilers and just knew nothing would touch this. Just the blind leading the blind. It was painful to watch.
Anyone who was/is worried about NXT's Women's division, this first round should put that to rest.
JR and Lita were surprisingly good to me anyway.

Episode 3 thoughts:
Gimme a Toni Storm/Rhea Ripley tag team. They could have backstage arguments over which metal sub-genre is better, hair metal or metalcore. Sara Amato! And some other lady. Man, there's a LOT of footage of Kay Lee Ray getting her ass kicked in the video packages. I'm thankful the Lady Khali match was short. I like Piper Niven. She's like Nia Jax with a sense of direction.

Unlike Nia, Jazzy Gabert actually comes across as a monster. Sarah Logan/Mia Yim was the best match of the 1st round. I thought Xia Li wasn't bad for someone in their 1st match. Disappointed in seeing Santa Garrett go out in the first round.

In terms of the commentary, they had to re-record a ton of it once Asuka vacated the belt so that's probably why it may come off as bland.

They really should sign Serena after the MYC is over. There's money in a redemption run for the gold for her! Plus she's in amazing shape and has been clean for years! Sign her boys!

Logan and Santana out in the first round makes me sad.

Through 2 episodes and I'm not sure that there's a girl that I don't want to see signed.
Marti Belle isn't very good, but I think she has a good look and I think could make great strides through the PC.
Xia will be a star and I think that gear is perfect. Obviously has a ways to go, but she looked better in her first ever match than some look years in.
I love Jazzy.

Sarah Logan, Mia Yim, Shayna Baszler, Jazzy "Braun StroWoman" Gabert, Mercedes Martinez, Ive never watched any of these women wrestle before and Im enjoying the f*** out of this tournament. Im only 2 eps in.
And I'm in love with Rhea Ripley.

So like...I didn't want her to beat Sane, but I'm sad Tessa is out, too.
I'm really only TRULY interested in four of the women who advanced. The others aren't bad at all, but I'm just not feeling them as much after Round 1.

Episode 4 thoughts:
LaRae/Michelle was solid. I could see Renee Michelle getting really good in a couple more years. I like the Star Spangled Ma'am With The Plan. Gonzalez/Savoy felt like it had another gear to get into, but it just...didn't. *shrug* I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the competitors in this tournament, but Blanchard and Sane both have reputations that precede them. The match itself lived up to the hype. Tessa came off like a badass, Kairi was tenacious. Just squeaks past Sarah Logan/Mia Yim as my favorite match of the tournament thus far.

Anyone think Vince actually watched this at all? I don't think Vince even knows the phrase "binge-worthy."

I've been slipping matches in between work today so I don't just lose my whole Monday to watching this, and so far there's been a lot of expected successes--they're building Shayna as a monster, Abbey Laith will make a fine babyface, etc.--with none of the Performance Center placements doing a bad job so far. Vanessa Borne isn't horrible and can only benefit from more training, and Zeda worked fine, but considering that whole thing was structured like an MMA fight to suit both womens' strong suit it's not a super strong representation of much, but holy shit did Xia Li impress me there. She's got a decent amount of presence to her, and for someone who's been training since only January she is already moving very naturally, probably due to all her competitive martial arts stuff, and could hang for a decent match with Mercedes being the veteran who carried the flow of things. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of signings moving forward, but even the prospects they're building from the ground up aren't stinking the joint up. An 'okay' developmental prospect is putting on what is way beyond what a "not very good" WWE women's match would have been ten years ago.

I gotta say, for the horror stories we were hearing about Vanessa Bourne, her match is WAY better than I was expecting
She needs plenty of work, especially with her punches, but I was expecting a trainwreck of a match and she carried it well. She also had Serena in there who is a great worker.

Just wrapped up the episodes, really enjoyed what I saw. I thought the 4 "main events" were all very entertaining. I really don't understand why Santana Garrett hasn't been signed before.
I thought Piper Niven was fun and would be someone who (if signed) should never, ever go anywhere where Vince is in charge.
I read some spoilers and only know what the Finals matchup is, so it all was pretty fresh to me. I think this can only be a positive thing moving forward.
And I didn't think the commentary was that bad. I do think that you could pick up the original commentary when it was still there and it came off better, but I thought it was passable and didn't take away any of my enjoyment at all.

All four main events ranged from solid to very good. Some good names going out early (Kay Lee Ray, Jazzy Gabert, Sarah Logan, Santana Garrett and Tessa Blanchard), and other than Borne and Gonzalez (unfair to say about Zeda as she got squashed in two minutes, but seemed fine), the newer PC talent impressed. Gutted at how bad Evers/Belle was, it was two people who aren't good at leading matches (Evers will be in time, there's a reason Belle hasn't progressed beyond the early card in SHIMMER) put against each other, and they were clueless on what to do next, which led to the mix-up that got the finish changed.
JR and Lita were predictably awful, with JR clearly reading off the crib sheet (which we infamously saw him doing during World of Sport). They went too often to the stock "the loser goes back to their home country", which felt so inaccurate during Storm/Raymond when they said Australia, given that Toni Storm lives in England. I also felt they overcooked the fan sweetening during Laith/Gabert, that didn't sound natural at all, even though the fans were already visibly popping for the match.
Like the CWC, the first round was solid and put over the personalities. The money should be in the remaining rounds next week, when the matches get really good.

I love JR and he's one of the best to ever call it, but he needs to retire.
They should have gotten Mauro and Bryan/Nigel or Tom and Graves.

Wow the backup finish in that Belle/Evers match was some clumsy shit, but kind of fitting for how not great that match was. Marti not looking good coming off of that, but hopefully Rachel has a good second round showing, because she's coming along well and that bumbling match shouldn't be something considered against her for future opportunities.

When JR said that Mia Yim was influenced by Gail Kim I could have sworn I heard a thunderclap. Gail has grown more powerful.
