If not, it ends up like Triple H v Booker T, where the racist guy wins and it's a real buzzkill. That's the problem. We have no reason to trust they'll do the right thing. WWE is untrustworthy when they try to handle real life issues like racism.

Wait is the "that's too far" chant a real thing that happened? What city are they in? I'm about to give them a nod as the best city.

Sociologically speaking, I find it absolutely fascinating that we have a racially charged storyline that is centered around two minorities.
I mean, I would very much rather they didn't go in this direction, but if they're going to, at least they're mixing it up a little.

I don’t have a huge issue with Jinder being the champ but maaaan these promos stink. It sucks the life out of the crowd.

I still haven't seen it but I'm basically thinking it's like this in a toned down form.

I'll preface this by saying I haven't seen any of the promos, just the recaps. From what I gather, It's a heel who thinks the crowd dislikes him because of his ethnicity, (instead of because he's a bad guy who can't win on his own) projecting that idea onto his opponent, who the crowd DOES like, because he wins and is a good wrestler. I don't find anything terribly offensive about this. The bad guy does and says bad things, and presumably, gets his comeuppance in the end.

I skipped SDL (like I skipped Raw) so I missed what happened. What did he do? "Behind your back, they'll say your hair was done by a dog groomer. Behind your back, they'll call you Mr. Miyagi." He also straight up yelled "GOZIRRA" on the mic last week and told him he looked like Pikachu having a seizure. He also said "rook" instead of "look".

The problem with this is that they NEEDED to do this with the whole gimmick.
Given that Jinder's gimmick has become "He thinks you, the fans, are all racists- and the second you boo him for any reason: Be it his inept skill, his being a heel, or booing that he claims this about you, you've instantly proven he's right", they had played it into a narrative of "The American fans are all racists".
With that in mind, they needed to make overt racism by Jinder Mahal to make it clear "No, the fans aren't the racists, the only real bigot here is Jinder Mahal" just to dial it back on the fans.

I think that might have just been Jinder's weird hoarseness making it sound like that.

A foreign heel thinks he's disliked because of his race and he uses that anger to say the same thing about his opponent to hurt them. On the flip side, the crowd likes his opponent but given what Mahal's gone through in his life, his mindset, he thinks the crowd dislikes Nakamura behind his back or will eventually turn on him due to racism, just due to how he, Mahal, had been treated. He thinks that Nakamura will go through the same path that he went through. At the end of the day however, Mahal's been warped by what he's been conditioned to so he's exactly like those who insult him. One thing's for sure: he's the real racist.

Jinder is a heel, it's quite the heel move to say these obnoxious things and pin it on the audience. I'd be concerned if Jinder were a face and there are times where WWE is insensitive and that insensitivity is painted as the righteous thing, but this I don't have a problem with.

I'm expecting him to nail Nakamura with a bag of fortune cookies, and read one out loud afterwards that says "You will win in [x] weeks at Hell in a Cell" or something equally goofy.

I liked it. Good to see heels really heeling it up. I hope Jinder beats Nakamura again. Then Nakamura turns heel and joins forces with Jinder and the Singh Brothers and wreaks havok on the rest of the Smackdown roster all the way until Wrestlemania.

I wasn’t terribly offended by it as I grew up watching heels say and do all sorts of terrible things to their opponents.

Hey remember when were were all excited that Jinder was facing Nakamura so we wouldn't have to hear a bunch of horrible "USA!" pandering BS because Jinder was different?
Glad to know they've somehow made it WORSE...

WWE is untrustworthy when they try to handle real life issues like racism. bingo. The 2 most disgusting angles ever that the heel NEEDED to lose, were "People like you shouldn't be champion" and Piggie James. WWE is 2 for 2 on f***ing this up.
