My first exposure to him was as one of The Traveling Wilburys. I didn’t really know who he was back then but I loved their music. This one seems fitting, especially with the empty chair for Roy Orbison. RIP.

Both Luanne and Lucky have now passed He slipping on pee pee in heaven now. RIP. Beside his music, he was awesome in King Of The Hill. I didn't even know it was him until years after the show ended.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the greatest song ever written. I remember when I was in 4th grade, my mom would let me stay up late on the weekend. And one show I watched was a Top Ten Video countdown. That's where I first heard this song. It touched me back then. Touches me to this day. Even moreso today.

Very sad to read, Free Fallin was one of my first favorite songs as a child, and is still a favorite of mine to this day. The video for Don't Come Around Here No More used to scare the hell out of me around that same time too lol. RIP.

A really awkward and disturbing coincidence i saw someone on reddit brought up. They said they first heard Tom Petty on the episode of the Simpsons were Homer purchases a gun. Given the fact he dies on the same day as the events in Vegas is eerie

Crushed.
Tom Petty is a music icon, and someone who had a profound influence on me. His music has gotten me through some very dire times, and it will continue to do so.
Chris Cornell and Tom Petty in the same year. My idols are all leaving the world behind. I don't know how to process this.

Jesus Christ no... One of my top 3 favourites. Saw him in concert years ago. Amazing show. f*** I wanted to do so last time he came through town but I did not have the money for it. I was hoping for a second chance. Now 3/5 of the Traveling Wilburys are gone.

They’ve retracted the story he has died. He’s listed as unclear.
Though, if he has no brain activity, he’s dead.

Local radio station is playing nothing but Tom Petty for the foreseeable future today. Anyone listened to the Sirius Petty channel today? Wonder if they have said anything?
