SHADOWPLAY get's a NINE out of TEN

definitely a more refined season ender, but again as with others some things were not as presented as best they could have been especially the almost pointless manehatten sequence, but giving it's time frame to tell the audience ..... it would be fine for them ..... and it was less actiony but more get stuck into them books and NOT think things through either, and it's starlight that at least KNOWS what will happen, but that was also not brought out as thorough as some things were!

but it's well structured and the story is complex, an excellent solution and not simply replaying the original banishment ..... will the pony of shadows remain intact and what poor world was it sent? because that's how the sirens got to equestria girls universe

giving it had a load more characters to deal with it was always going to be the case they weren't given the time to shine a bit more, and as before instead of being a two parter, give it another episode and replace just the manehatten part with action and adventure parts IN their former places of being ..... extending BOTH like FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC and RETURN TO HARMONY ..... but that's my view of course

this was epic cartooning with not only world travelling but through time as well

okay it's NOT perfect
those eyes man, THOSE EYES!!!
BIG AS THE MOON y'see

and no ponyville either, no stupid escape attempts either, and NO granny smith giving them heck!!!

and i did say before about some rather big leaps in logic, but as i was more awake than the first time I GET IT NOW, they did know where to go and twilight was a big idiot in trying to nick the pearl

BUT I GET IT NOW

an exceptional set of dinky adventures
a bonkers otherworld that opens up, something like the world that SAMURAI JACK lives in ..... THAT CAT MAN, THAT CAT ..... and really well drawn out characters too! and none of them felt like extra or frivolous either
but our equine heroes get all the good stuff, funny plot comedy that might go past you if you ain't concentrating, except for THAT hasbro joke of course!
madcap escapades with the lions and tigers and bears, a big dollop of sad cake, and very funny visual jokes too without going too far with them
and those escapes, and of course it's bloody pinkie that get's the bulk of it, almost getting smushed on some rocks after a very exciting sequence and the whole pirate airship doohickey which was INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE!!!

and every song was excellent too, all peppy and strong, OPEN YOUR EYES a standout showing us another deep backstory! but none of them were bland or unnecessary, all serving their purpose, and all very singable AND danceable! which you'll be glad to know i did not do, i did however throw my hands in the air BUT THAT WAS IT and sia's song is very nice too.

and actually very strange bedfellows those protagonists were, tempest the straight edge while the big bad storm king was a right git

all in all a fine addition to the animation movie lexicon
next time keep the normal animation from the show though
or go all out and 3D it all i don't care

a bit of FOREWARNING perhaps as twilight wanted everyone to be more POWERful PONIES to fight the storm army .....

and it looks like on of my fav episodes of the season ..... FLUTTERSHY LEANS IN ..... get's the CASTLE MANE-IA treatment, so underrated ..... and i APPRECIATE that you all think it wasn't that good, but funny episodes with flutters is MY field of expertise!!!

finally the SINGLE BEST THING in the entire series, and one of THE most laugh out loud parts .....

from one of the best and quite frankly barking mad episodes, literally watched the strawberry sunrise scene probably the most ever, even more than the scene where the ponies finally got together at the end of CASTLE MANE-IA!

haven't laughed that hard at a cartoon really
