There is talk about WK12 also possibly airing on PPV. WK9 which did gathered fourteen thousand buys and many in the company are pushing for it and a deal is trying to be made. The only potential downside is that it'd be starting around 2:30 AM. Didn't they do 2 airings when they did the WK9 PPV? One live, and then a repeat in primetime? I know I watched the live one, as it was my first full NJPW show (what a f***ing show to start with I might add, made me an instant fan)

On the latest episode of the Ross Report around the 40:30 mark, Jericho said he's never seen a Kenny Omega match before, but that he's gonna start soon.
What the f*** Jericho?

NJPW is first and foremost a Japanese company, and as such are super hesitant to take on a different approach, even in a foreign market they are interested in. (Although I don’t really think they care about that as much as some people do.) I doubt they ever even considered PPV abroad.

It's makes sense if you think about it. A major goal of Kidani/New Japan is for New Japan World to reach 100,000 subscribers and if they advertise the app on ROH/New Japan TV, it could be possible for Wrestle Kingdom with the Jericho/Omega match. I will say the app needs to be available on more devices, if anything adding it to Roku/Playstation/X-box should be a major priority right now. Also, PPV providers take a lot of the money away. The reason New Japan/WWE charge around $10 for their streaming services is because that is what they actually make from the ppvs.

Over twenty thousand tickets have been sold its been reported, the show is selling at a much faster pace than the previous years have been. This is being credited to an increase of international fans attending the event.

This is being credited to an increase of international fans attending the event. I heard at the point when this year reached 20,000 last year was only at 11 to 12,000 tickets sold. This should easily clear 30,000 and possibly get close to 40,000.

NJPW should be trying like holy hell to get an app on as many platforms as possible
How many more people here alone would subscribe if there were an app on their preferred console/device?
To my knowledge there is only one on the Amazon Fire Stick (which I just ordered for this purpose)

Haven't heard the Ross interview, but can we be sure it ain't Y2J doing his heel, "I'm from the big leagues, kid" worked shoot nonsense? as when Y2J had Omega on his own podcast Jericho seemed to be pretty familiar with Omega's stuff.

It is the only barrier for me at this point. I subscribed before and hooked my laptop to the tv with a HDMI cable but its kinduva pain. Not a BIG deal, but when I watched there were definitely matches I wanted to ffwd though and it was annoying to do it without a dedicated app.

It wasn't any of that, it seemed pretty genuine. He wasn't in promo mode, he basically just said he's never seen a full match and that he was going to start watching his work more to figure out how to have the best match possible. As for when he had Omega on the podcast, he probably read his Wiki and just brought up things that everybody hears about Kenny rather they look into his stuff or not. I don't remember him being super knowledgeable about Omega's work from that interview. Jericho's podcast strength has always stemmed from being a good conversation and listener, rather than being super knowledgeable about everybody he talks to.

They're slow building Naito/Omega III and it is going to be pure fire.

Naito is in a total work mode here, probably planting the seeds for a future champion vs. champion match. After all these guys are 1-1 in the G1 over the past 2 years, so we need a rubber match.
NJPW has a slight dilemma here in that right now there are only 3 guys in the entire company that could feasibly be IWGP champion: Okada, Naito, and Omega. I wouldn't even put Tanahashi in that category anymore since he seems to be in the "veteran moves his way down the card to the IC level" realm. NJPW has a lot of guys that can be 1 show credible challengers but very few that could rationally be champion.

NJPW has a lot of guys that can be 1 show credible challengers but very few that could rationally be champion. This is true, though I'm guessing it's partly due to losing Shibata the way they did just as he seemed primed to break through to the main event; not saying he'd be on the Okada/Naito/Omega level right now, but he'd probably be on Tanahashi's with his trajectory pointing upward. Also didn't help when they lost Shinsuke, though he was more in the "he's a main eventer if we need him to be" spot given his prolonged IC title reigns. Then you've got Suzuki getting into his late 40s, them never pulling the trigger on Goto or Ishii, and a lot of guys who are main event worthy but may not be on full time contracts (Ibushi, most notably, maybe Sabre too) or who might be western guys who can't be there as often as someone like Omega. EVIL and SANADA could break out soon, but they're not there yet. They do have a great crop of Young Lions and recently returned excursion guys breaking out over the next couple of years, which will help and will likely make for a great main event scene in the near future, but it would be nice to see a few other people get at least short main event runs while they keep that rebuilding process going. They've done such a great job of only putting the IWGP title on a select group of people over the past however many years (Tana, Okada, AJ, Naito) that it might be time to throw in a short term/transitional title reign here or there to keep people on their toes, the way they did with Makabe and Nakanishi when they were building Tanahashi up as ace years ago. It's the blessing and curse of making the heavyweight singles scene their main draw: you make a lot of money and draw a lot of fans through them, but it it does make it a bit tougher to take some chances or do a few more unpredictable things.

Other than Naito's 70 day reign last year, only Tanahashi, Okada and Styles have held the title since 1/4/11.
