I didn't see a thread on it and I just came back from a viewing. I thought it was pretty good. My favorite was the Mexican celebrity name check of {Spoiler}EL SANTO The one thing that I thought was hollow was at the end when The desperate need to get Coco to remember to save Hector from fading away.... I mean Miguel would remember him saving his being am I wrong? Still touching.

Saw it tonight with the kids, it was pretty enjoyable. They almost wrote themselves into a corner a couple of times but overall the story flowed pretty well. It's definitely a little darker subject matter for a kids movie I thought, though it stayed away from anything too scary. It has a few memorable characters, but I don't think the songs will prove to be as catchy as Disney is used to. I thought they explained this when they had one of the characters say {Spoiler}{Spoiler} that you had to know the person while they were living in order to be able to prevent them from the "final death". So that's why it had to be Coco because she was the last living person that knew Hector.

Makes sense I guess must have missed that part And yeah they kinda had a ridiculous plot point {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Where the contest to preform at the party was that day? I mean really that seems like short notice and rather convenient. Also one last ending plot point {Spoiler}The fact Coco is her old version in the after life seems unfair as the others seem to have died a bit younger and are their younger selves.

Everything I've seen about this just screams medicore to me. Trailers haven't done it any favours at all and the premise strikes me as rather stupid. Thinking music is evil because one person buggered off at some point. Good thing he didn't want to be a chef, family would have starved to death else.

This is one of those movies that by all signs looks really good but I just do not actually have any desire to see. Maybe when it hits video or if it's playing at a convenient time for when I go see Star Wars but as it stands it's kind of there with Ratatouille as a Pixar movie I recognize is probably really good but have never even considered watching.

So I just got back from this, but holy crap. HOLY CRAP this was good.
I'll probably be actually articulate in my review for the site.
