Honestly I feel like they've pretty much bungled this whole Gargano / Ciampa thing to tell the truth. They kind of seem to simultaneously be doing the story of Ciampa not wanting to let Gargano overshadow him and being out to destroy him because of that, like that was his initial point on leaving and it'd be consistent with Ciampa coming to screw him out of the NXT title, but while also wanting to do the idea that Gargano can't get Ciampa out of his head and his career is suffering because of it. Which... Okay, those ideas COULD work together and I guess kind of are, but I dunno, it just doesn't work for me. I think the big reason is because there's really no way to pay it off where they both benefit from it - either Ciampa just loses to Gargano immediately on coming back to finish Gargano's arc and that's the end of that with him just winding up the firm second place of the pair, or Gargano loses and just looks like a chump because he still can't get past his hang-ups from a breakup that happened months ago. Or Ciampa cheats I guess but that'd completely undercut his motivation. Like it's a fine template for a story really, just not a wrestling story so much. It feels more like, I dunno, something from a shonen manga or something where it really doesn't matter if the ex-friend looks credible or has a direction afterward. Frankly I’m fine with it at the moment. They played it off well with Gargano not just shaking off his beat down from Ciampa. He’s now got his confidence back and assuming Ciampa comes back to cost Gargano the belt than he has to fight his demons head on. In a perfect world both men would get over from this man ultimately one of them needs that W to carry them to the championship and you can replay the feud later at a different date.

Interestingly, in announcing the plans for deciding the #1 Contender, WWE have actually announced Velveteen Dream being in Gargano’s spot, so there’s clearly a storyline afoot for Dream not being in the match and Gargano coming in as the replacement.

Oooo, this is interesting. I was wondering why he wasn't in the spoilers.

It's sad that Dain and Cross seem to be more and more becoming their own things. Maybe Sanity might not even make it to the main roster as a group like #DIY. On the other hand I love them both and want to see them do cool things, but they are chained down by being in Sanity. They should've all held gold. Wolfe & Dain - Tag, EY - NXT Championship - Nikki - Women's

Think Undisputed Era attack Dream backstage, which eventually sets him up as Black's partner against them.

On the other hand I love them both and want to see them do cool things, but they are chained down by being in Sanity. Wolfe being injured shakes things up a lot, but Nikki was always doing her own stuff on the side. Whether or not Sanity goes up is going to have a lot to do with how they see Eric Young as far as someone who should be on the main roster versus the veteran helping out in NXT above all else. EY deserves a main roster run honestly, nothing is stopping him from eventually going back to NXT, but the dude being the methodical loopy leader of Sanity helps sell it. He's the man with the plan. Wolfe or Dain don't really sell that role like EY really does, he's necessary for the growth of them and a sure hand for literally anyone.
