My father lost his remote for his car doors.
I do some googling and find that it’s $100 for a replacement.
I see some on eBay for like $10. I also see “universal remotes” at Walmart
Had anyone had any trouble finding a decent price subs or alternative to the manufacturers key and setting it to your specific car?
Also, he lost his garage door remote as well. It’s for a condo, and I’m pretty sure he lost it in the building or at home so no worries about someone stealing it to break in (unless a neighbor stole it cause they lost theirs). But should I call the HOA? Any penalties for a lost remote? Can I buy a new one from Home Depot or online and re-enter the code from my spare?

I just bought a replacement remote for cheap, like 20 bucks.
I have no idea if I can even access the remote starter system without dismantling the dash. All I need to do is find a damn button to press on the system to sync the two. It is aftermarket, so god only knows where it is. Hyundai Elantra 2013.
In some systems, the button is easy to find, and is a matter of minutes to set up.

Those cheap deals apparently you have to be careful because the cheap price is just the shell. No electronics. It’s a ripoff. If you can get either, it’s a matter of programming the codes. Should be easy enough. My dad can do it and the last technology he really understood is the HiFi stereo he bought in the 70’s.
