99% sure Schultz did not go back to the AWA after his WWF run. I would assume Verne was still bitter over the way Schultz left him, then headlined in Minneapolis a short time later for the WWF. Schultz went to New Japan a bit after Mania and "slapped" a reporter as a publicity stunt. I could have sworn he had another weeks-long stint before bailing, but I could be mistaken.

Didn't he once cut a promo saying about Jerry Lawler saying Jerry Lawler you have aids!? Yeah in Memphis. I think that was Dr D's last territory before disappearing from wrestling.

As we're seeing, it had nothing to do with a blackball edict, it was just Schultz pissing off promoters and burning bridges. Didn't he pull something odd at the end of his Stampede run too?

In Heath McCoy's book on Stampede, Schultz came back in 1986 and scared a local columnist half to death about the story the guy wrote about the Stossel incident, pinning him against a wall and screaming: "ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELF AT MY EXPENSE?!!" I heard Dr. D is releasing a book sometime next year. That should be...interesting.
