IIRC,been a bit since I watched it,a teenage Benji Grimm gets the Thing rings. Slams them together and becomes the Thing. I think he was suppose to be the grown up Thing who got deaged into a teen.
Was part of Hanna Barbara's Flintstones Sat AM cartoon for 1 or 2 seasons.

Benjy was just a teenager that turned into Thing with the gruff Brooklyn accent he usually has. Marvel actually referenced this like 5 years ago...

I wasn't a fan of the comic (aside from the Allred art) but Miss Thing is such an awesome name for a female Thing.

Was this cartoon before or after Fred and Barney Meet the Shmoo cartoon? There was some odd Flintstones related cartoons in the 70s and early 80s.

Meet the Thing ended like December 1 and Shmoo started the next week December 8, The Thing was also part of that block but they only made like 13 episodes of it.

Alongside the normal human district attorney of 1944's Captain America serial and the alien-powered motorcycle racer of the Japanese Spider-Man, this was definitely one of the more bizarre reinterpretations of a Marvel property. And the pairing with the Flintstones as a combined show (even if their segments were always separate, so the title "Fred and Barney Meet the Thing" was completely misleading) was equally bizarre. These were the prime years for the animation houses putting multiple properties into one half-hour or hour-long show like the Tarzan/Batman/Lone Ranger show, the Godzilla/Dyno-Mutt Hour, etc., but they usually had a shared nature/theme (all action segments or all comedy segments)

I loved how the Thing still talked like the regular version of the Thing, down to his accent and phrasing.
