Both of these seem really odd.
Start up wrestling companies lose money by the boatload putting shows together and this guy wants to use his own money to fill a WWE sized arena for a one night show.
Has there ever been a Wrestling on a boat thing that was successful? I mean WWF and WCW tried didn’t they?

These Rock cruises have been the thing recently so it's just Jericho trying to capitalize on a trend he was aware of.

I’m voting for Jericho’s cruise because the passengers are going to be stuck with a couple of Fozzy concerts. I predict at least 14 people jump overboard to avoid it.
cody’s is pretty dumb too though, because they’ll likely fill the arena as a one off but it’s going to cost them so much money to book top talent, and if any top talent work this bullshit for free then they are a monumental toolbox. Rule #1 is that you gotsa get paid.

There have been a lot of people with money to burn that either start a company that tanks after one show or they never even end up running. That’s not weird to me. Could be dumb, but it’s their money and they can do what they want with it.
The cruise is weird to me. Especially if Jericho is putting on matches. His audience is limited because it’s just his passengers. There’s no opportunity to draw more, so there’s no potential growth in revenue there. Whatever floats his boat. 🚢

At least neither one is the Fire Festival.

Jericho's '"Look how cool and relevant I am" Cruise of Terrible Ideas'
It sounds awful and is a reminder that as talented as the guy is unless he has a really good angle or gimmick to sink his teeth into, he's still trying to be 21.
And I say that as a fan who would have liked List Jericho to be around much longer.

At least neither one is the Fire Festival. You got anything against ZERO1's annual singles tournament that's basically a poor man's G1 Climax?

I like both guys quite a bit, so I don't say this as slamming either guy.
Cody's idea sounds like something he probably won't make money on, but I can see where it'd be a bucket list kind of thing, as well as potentially being something he could recoup some of the losses on if it does go well. Like, such a show, a documentary or throwing some interviews together seems like a good idea, he can get some networking done, etc. On that front, I don't think it's weird exactly, just a gamble.
Jericho's is the weirder idea. Like, I get what he's attempting to do, but it's inherently strange. Wrestling and music on a cruise sounds like the premise of a Baywatch episode so they could pack it with wacky guest stars.

I say Cody's because he basically started up this plan based something Meltzer said on twitter saying it was unlikely Cody and the Bucks would be able to sell out a 10,000 person arena

Rock and metal cruises have been growing in recent years, and mixing it with wrestling is a bit weird, but it's not the worst thing he could be doing. It does make for a more niche product and really banks on the hope wrestling fans shell out that kind of money but the foundation of it isn't too terrible. Jericho's back to playing rock star fantasy camp and wants a piece of what's going on.
For the Cody show, I think that's even less weird. They're testing the boundaries of their brand, but also trying to make something happen that hasn't really happened stateside in almost two decades. It's a status thing, and trying to prove what they've been saying all year: you don't need WWE to be successful and the indie scene is on the rise. It's a way to push what they're been telling the business, and to achieve the status of successfully doing something that shouldn't quite be possible.

The wrestling cruise.
One just needs to bring up Gronkowski's cruise as what a bad idea it is to have muscleheads with a lot of booze in the middle of the ocean.
Didn't Mojo piss all over fake trees?

Beyond that, the 10000 seat arena show will likely sell any merch they bring. That's where the money is gonna be. And then there's sponsors. Getting paid/support from businesses is gonna eat a lot of the pocket costs for talent and the venue as is.

The cruise is a weirder idea, but selling 10,000 tickets to a self-funded show is probably the worse idea.

Aiming for a massive indy show isn't bonkers, it's just possibly over-ambitious.
Jericho's cruise is bonkers but it's 100% my kind of bonkers. If I had the money I'd be all over that cruise. I love the guy and don't even care that he's perpetually living a Cool Dad gimmick.

I don't find either to be weird. They're both trying to make money from pro wrestling fans.

Getting paid/support from businesses is gonna eat a lot of the pocket costs for talent and the venue as is. Plus they'll likely also do an iPPV of it, bringing in even more revenue than what is generated at the venue live. They'll make money. The real question is if they can get the goal of 10,000 people in the door.

I almost expect the cruise to intentionally be a disaster, because Jericho has lost any sense of when to stop heeling.

Of the two Jericho’s is definitely the worse idea. Cost is going to be enormous, and the audience is very limited. I don’t see any way he isn’t going to take a bath. Cody’s idea is over ambitious but if they plan well the losses (if there are any) shouldn’t be too bad.
