Because they only use 10-15 people. I think only a slightly larger number would be needed for live events. Talent go missing for weeks at a time and months.
Seriousiy, this week was an especially egregious example. They don't rotate talent and they keep a newly-turned heel off TV after his big win and, if you count tag teams as one, this week they only used 13 members of their roster. Out of 34. And that's generously including authority figures.
...What the f*** is this shit?

WWE's in this weird state where they have a huge roster and yet Smackdown uses 10 guys and Raw dedicates an hour and a half to Jason Jordan.

It's because the writers are lazy as hell. Why come up with stuff for 25 people to do when you can have 10 of them just aimlessly wrestle for three times the length they need to?

This is why you don't get excited when a talent is signed or called up anymore. It's not even 'will they book them badly?' Now it's 'will they book them at all?'

And how much longer can the Ascension remain on the payroll?

People wonder why the Attitude Era gets praise...they could fit 30 something stars in two hours.
The biggest problem is the 2-3 segment matches.

I DVR’ed Smackdown and as I was watchimg It tonight, a whole 10 minutes was dedicated to entrances for the 6 person tag main event. Seriously, did they need to air them all? For the most part, they are the same choreographed entrance every single week, and eat up so much time.
I’m all for talent not being used every week, keeps things fresh and you don’t exhaust matches to death, but they don’t even do that anymore. They simply don’t use half their roster, and it’s mind boggling.

When I was watching Clash, I checked to see who wasn't in a match and could fill an extra one since they had a bunch of filler
They could have added a Tye vs Mike Kanellis match or Colons vs Ascension. Everyone else was on the PPV

If you just look at the one PPV, in a vacuum, then they're doing a good job with their roster. But that's not the right way of looking at it.

Rusev could fill in for about half of them Eddie Murphy style and I'd be okay with it.
