Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns has been fined $5,000 for shoving referee John Cone during his title defense against Samoa Joe on Raw last night, WWE.com can confirm.

The incident occurred after Reigns backed Joe into the corner of the ring and continued to attack him past the official’s count. When Cone attempted to intercede, Reigns shoved him aside to continue his attack. The champion was subsequently disqualified, though he kept his title as a result of champion’s advantage.

Okay, stuff like this I'm on board with...if they could stay on top of it. It establishes that actions have consequences, it adds to the story of the match and it's a believable amount of money to be fined. It can also be played to in the future; wrestlers who don't care about the fine because they want to get their hands on their enemy, heels who take the fine to keep onto their title etc.

Sheamus getting fined half a million dollars was f***ing stupid because the audience can't relate to that. It doesn't come across as unfair in storyline terms, it comes off as poorly written.
