The basis of his character was he's a spoiled rich kid who got whatever he wanted and never was told no through Nepotism. It only worked because Ditzy was there.
Unless he starts claiming he's Jimmy Carter's great grandson

The “EC” could mean anything, so I suppose it could be adapted.
I’d like to see him as the hip-swinging, guitar playing Eddie Cochran III.

Hmm the name might be able to carry him in ROH where some fans will remember their relationship with TNA and shit with Dixie but it’s not going to mean shit in NXT if he ever went back there
f*** it better to have it I guess than not have it.

I don't know if bragging about being Dixie's nephew is a good thing.
He probably wants to work in Panda and the Carters are so stupid they would probably fall for it.

I would think just acronyms EC3 would have been a lot better solution than full name Ethan Carter III

So if I use the EC3 name, could I get in legal trouble trouble trouble trouble trouble?

Unless he starts claiming he's Jimmy Carter's great grandson I don't think they have to use the tie to Dixie or really anyone. The name is enough to get that spoiled rich kid vibe going and he can play it up to having connections. I mean he's been doing it on the Indies for a few years now with success. Hell, that was how Cornette got his start I believe. He was a spoiled rich kid using Mama Cornette's money to get everything he wanted but couldn't but off, Lawler I think, leading to a feud. Just fake a family member or something if it is really needed when/he gets back to WWE.

EC3 is going to reap in that sweet fitness class money.

EC3 is going to reap in that sweet fitness class money. I'd assume that's probably what running a wrestling academy technically falls under.

Can we file for trademark on the Aron Rex name and gimmick to make sure it never gets used by anyone ever again?

I mean he's been doing it on the Indies for a few years now with success. Wrestling history is full of fake relatives who kept the name but not really the familial connection afterward. Superstar Billy Graham, Crazy Luke Graham and Mike Graham are all brothers and nephews of Dr. Jerry Graham in kayfabe, even if most of them never worked with one another. Rick Steamboat's "dad" Sam Steamboat was never mentioned in his "canon" again after he went to WWF.

Similar to the Andersons but the only requirement to be an Anderson is that you have to be balding and a little pudgy to be part of the Anderson family.

Arn's about the only one that moved on from being part of the family while retaining the name. Gene and Ole were tied to it pretty much the rest of their careers, and Lars was too, to a large degree (and Lars certainly didn't fit the balding/pudgy trope). Even CW tried to keep playing up his non-existent connection to the others for a very long time (and he's the only post-Crockett guy I consider an official "Anderson" beyond Brad and Bryant, due to Arn giving his blessing to use the name).

Lars I only remember for being Ole's son but I don't think I've ever seen him wrestle. In my opinion the last legit Anderson is Karl...even though he never got permission from the rest of the "family". I wish they would do a reality show about an Anderson family reunion.

Lars was Gene and Ole's "brother" - you're thinking of Bryant, who was Ole's legit son. Here's Lars with Ole and Gene (Lars is on our right, Gene's in the middle): Another pic of Lars, with the most beautiful head of hair an Anderson ever had: Below is Ole's son Bryant with Ole: And for fun, here's Gene's son Brad (the only other 'real" Anderson besides Gene): Brad may be more familiar in this gimmick:
